The only fix for this game is to not even install it from steam, install it from bayloading launcher(from their very own launcher)
The game is Unplayable on steam even on the lowest graphics!
EULA Shows as a black screen
Could not switch to a netease account
The game is so badly optimised that it lags every time i open it from steam
Please just change from steam to BayLoadingLauncher since it will fix all the lag and stuff

%command% -dorce-vulkan
desktop mode for eula
Game slows down to being unplayable in 10 minutes or less

%command% -force-vulcan
EULA does appear as black screen - to fix that launch in desktop mode and accept, then you can keep playing in game mode
Proton GE or other required. Had massive stutters on default one

%command% -force-vulcan -dx11
BLACK SCREEN FIX
Although the game doesn't run nearly as well as it did when GE-Proton7-55 worked, there is a fix to the black screen that happens when trying to enter a server as it's just failing to show the EULA agreement thing.
Switch your Steam Deck to Desktop > Start game > Attempt join a server > Accept EULA
You can now restart in gaming mode and now you should be good until the next major update that requires you to accept an updated EULA.
My OLED deck used to average 60 - 90 FPS (on low) on GE-Proton7-55 but now that the game only works with GE-Proton9, I haven't been able to get higher than 35-50 FPS (on very low) with terrible frame drops depending on where you are on the map (currently on the Mannibus map). That being said I don't know anything about optimizing on Linux and I'm not even sure if the Launch Options I have listed are even written correctly.
Hopefully, some more experienced Linux users can tackle the performance of the current "Way of Winter" update version of the game now that there is a work-around to the black screen error.

I tried several of the fixes here, Forcing DXVK, Forcing DX12, various versions of Proton and Proton GE, The only thing that got the game to work was running a newer version of GE-Proton, I was using GE-Proton9-20. But that just let me start the game. When I tried to play, it would still just go to a black screen.

There are a lot of controls to map and the community profiles take some getting used to. Otherwise, 60FPS in the open forest areas.

The right stick was way too sensitive. I lowered the Mouse Sensitivity to 100% for now.
Game runs at 20-30 FPS with default settings. Enabled FSR at balanced and selected Very Low for the other graphics settings. Had no issue getting 40+ after that.
I had to accept some window (EULA?), but that's it.
It's not horribly small, but it makes me squint at times.
Lag and stutters. Smooth most of the time, but it can get you killed.
Crashes on anything but Proton 7 (GE 7-55 in my case). Very Deck-able so far.

Game works absolutely wonderful, but will not run on the current versions of Proton. Game has to run on Proton 7.0.6 without issues
Change proton verion to Proton 7.0.6/ Experimental, Latest Proton or GE will not launch the game without having issues with either accepting EULA, or you get a graphical void when playing

I shared my layout to community. There are a LOT of commands that are bound to button keys and some need a long press, so I re-bound left and right trackpads to match. Could not get Push To Talk working at all.
Game crashes are rare (only happened twice in 13 hours of play)
Older version of proton makes it run smoothly. It'll work on medium settings but I encountered issues if I launched the game and then plugged in the charger. Launch the game with the charger in and then you can plug/unplug as much as you want. It'll work fine on Medium settings, but low will likely give a better experience.

game has no official gamepad support, even with layout you notice it while walking cause of the wasd bind
set video settings to very low, lock the fps to 45 on oled, enjoy near lag free gameplay

DXVK_ASYNC=1
Right trackpad mouse with left click Left trackpad radial menu with various interact keys
native controller support not in game. Character movement would get stuck randomly triggers (clicks) sometimes not register
Other proton versions crashed had bad lag, current version no issues so far

Attempted stock settings and proton experimental both with same results. Menus load fine. Settings automatically set to low and steam deck's native resolution and capped at 30 FPS. Does not recognise controller but can navigate if a keyboard and mouse control scheme selected. After choosing server trying to enter the game causes a black screen then crash out to steam library. Not been able to diagnose issue yet.
