Game refuses to respect your settings and will render only the top left corner visible on fullscreen. Gamescope was the only way I could fix it.
You're probably better off emulating the WiiWare version through Dolphin.

Other Bit.Trip games with the same startup error can be fixed by using GE Proton, but in this case it doesn't work.

Launching after an install does nothing, using the workaround fails as well.
A stock install does nothing, not even a prompt about vertex shaders.
The part about using protontricks fails; it hangs on making a prefix in the compatdata folder
Needed this personally as i don't have Vulkan
protontricks 205080 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43
- Remove the "Dependencies" folder
- Run the game once to let it fail
- Run "protontricks 205080 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43" in a terminal.

Crashes at launch with "shader: failed to compile vertex shader"

Does not start, complains about vertex shader

Crashes at launch with "shader: failed to compile vertex shader"

Error when game tries to run "DirectX 9.0 Web setup" on first-time startup, then complains about vertex shaders.
