I used proton experimental first, worked fine. Launching it the second time though I had to switch to 8.0.2, otherwise it wouldn't launch.
switch proton versions if you have launch issues

I have Proton set to Hotfix as the default. A lot of games I tried seem to be pretty stable with it.
Hangs? Dunno no crash or error. Just no launch
Works great out of the box

After forcing Proton version to experimental, game ran well for the few hours I played it.
In windowed mode, moving the window made the contents black sometimes. Fullscreen works flawlessly.
Game crashes after initial settings menu when using default Steam settings.

Fullscreen had an issue initially. I had to delete the Config.txt file allow clicking on any menu items. This is likely a bug with the game and ultrawidescreen rather than Proton.

Game crashes when starting a game
I can load to the menu, press "New Game", select an Avatar, name my zoo, but when I press 'Play' - it crashes.
The game also crashes when attempting to change the 'music volume' on start up.
This is the latest patch of the game and the in-game music is currently disabled.
A workaround from the dev to play via Proton, was to remove the musics. The sounds effects are still good, so it’s really a minor issue, IMO. No issue since this hotfix.
As a work-around to a crash on startup where the game was trying to load an mp3 during the splash screen and failing, the devs implemented a 'fix' that removes the music from the game, but makes the game otherwise fully playable.
Game crashes after loading the splash screen (using many different versions of Proton, including GE).
Tried with different version of Proton, generic, experimental and GE up to 6.20-GE1, crash after splash screen.

Multiple versions of proton and Crash after Initial Video
All versions of proton seem to do same thing. Load developer video and crashes to desktop.
Tried disabling DXVK makes it not load at all. Seems to crash once game assets try to load.
