I followed the instructions on the YT video associated with this blog post! Its worked like a charm ever since.
https://tuxexplorer.com/story-of-seasons-pioneers-of-olive-town-on-the-steam-deck
nstalled vcrun2010 vcrun2012 vcrun2013 vcrun2015 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47 via protontricks and it runs perfectly now.
without, it crashes after studio splash screens.
Cannot access dlc

With GE Proton version it works like a charm. Only small Bug I've found is a wierd texture in the animal barn on the windows.
DLC would not load?
I could not get DLC to work wiht Proton
I did play this game from beginning to end using the protontricks method. I could not use the DLC though.
The standard controls are awful. I just changed the confirm button.
8t happened sometimes when comming back from sleep
Not much tinkeringing is needed. If you can't do the protontricks tinkering step this game won't launch.

I'm having too much fun, justified the deck for me 100%
Using proton tricks wasn't that difficult and once the dependencies are added it runs flawlessly
I basically
Added all d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47 etcetc And then all vcrun from 2007 -> 2019 I do believe anything beyond 2015 failed but I just yeeted the stuff at it like an idiot and it kind of worked (Won't pretend to know what I'm doing) but hey it works now. Using proton tricks.
It kept warning about 64 bit but that can safely just be ignored.
I've been playing the game for a few hours and it runs flawlessly.
Without adding the dependencies the game crashes on launch, after adding them the game runs flawlessly with 0 issues.
After installing the needed dependencies through protontricks, i played 16 hours with no problems.
You need to install following Libraries "vcrun2010 vcrun2012 vcrun2013 vcrun2015 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47" (You can possibly omit some, i took the dependencies of Grim Dawn like somebody else said)

I had a similar issue (crash with access violation) when trying to play Grim Dawn, but GOG w/ DXVK install script worked for me so I decided to try it with this game and it worked too.
To install the game through lutris, use GOG w/ DXVK version from the following link: https://lutris.net/games/grim-dawn/ , when it asks for the GOG Installer, just point to the steam installer instead, then configure the installed game on lutris to open steam .exe instead of grim dawn. Install SoS and play! There's probably a better way to do it (by installing all the dependencies and configurations from grim dawn script instead going all the way to install a lutris prefix), but I lack technical knowledge to read the script and understand what it does. Here's the starting point, hope someone improves it in the near future!

Crashes at launch, after the Xseed & Marvelous logos
Tried with 6.3-6, Experimental, 4.11-13 & 6.16 GE-1
