gamemoderun %command%
No launcher or movie issues. gamemode installed, no custom configurations.

The game and sound perform perfectly. If they can fix the file corruption problem the game would be Platinum.

After shutdown it is required to run Validate Files. One GC file, Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 sniper, and Proton 9.0 must be restored due to corruption after shutting down the program. I also found it will stop a minimized Steam from showing windows until those files are restored.
With my new system I was hoping better results. But the file corruptions continue. If you play the game and shut it down normally, save yourself a headache and validate the files immediately.

The game plays well with my APU. Random crash and corrupting 3 files on exit getting fixed would be great.
- The game starts with a black, transluscent window on top of the menu.
- After one playthru, save, exit the menu won't show but the black, transluscent window shows.
- Run Verify files and there are always 3 files corrupted (Steam files?) then everything works unti l close the game. This is the only one that behaves like this.
Besides the inability to play the game, exit, play a second tiem there is that black transluscent window over the menu. I don't know if that is the game or Proton.
Save often because of crashes. Run Verify files after you play.

v2.7 Works Great with default run, workshop and AI generation even works!
Only issues I ran into (and may be a pop issue) is it constantly told me the steam app was not responding until the game fully loaded. I just ignored it (like I have with other games) and it went away and game ran as expected after 15-30 seconds for everything to load. Once at in game main menu, no issues.
Launcher still has the weird shading box over it, best to just do the no launcher option %command% /nolauncher
and just ignore that whole situation

Before I used these launch options, framerate was half and stuttered a lot when any other program was open. With them, it is fixed.

1st time load: launcher is visible. The game loads into a black screen. All subsequent attempts: Launcher is invisible. Game not working
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
Still not working on latest available nvidia drivers and proton version in Linux Mint.

The game boots and runs perfectly at first launch. However, day 2 of playing, the launcher is invisible and the game freezes.
Loved it when it worked, but the game is completely unplayabe after second boot. I've tried different version of proton, Experimental included, no change. Really sad.

force 1080 since is the minimum resolution for the game, 30 fps and low graphics
Sometimes fps drops, but since is a turn based game is not a big deal
Smooth sailing, the game fired right up. No tinkering required. Ran great.

Game is borked. Laucher comes up but UI is glitchy. Game does not launch.

Launcher appears but UI is messed up. There is no way to discern where the play button is. Tried multiple proton versions. Nothing works for me. In some cases I managed to hit the play button by chance and the game launched into a black screen displaying only the cursor playing music. The game just hangs there.
amd/wayland seems without problems

Love the graphics, and its a nice strategy game. Not got the custom AI generated race to work yet

The dev is aware of the current issues with Linux through proton, the launch options I was provided in the Steam discussions pinned topic for Linux worked.

Black Screen
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
UI loads in game, but nothing else. Just a black screen. Tried default, experimental and GE, both with the command and without. Launcher worked fine though :)

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
Steam Proton will work, but with the launcher visibility problem for me.
Works perfectly
Game runs, but stardock Launcher will stay blank, so you have to figure out where the play button of GalCiv is.
Stardock Launcher stays blank
The play button in the completly blank Stardock Launcher is not shown by a changed mouse cursor, but you can help yourself by having a picture of the launcher, and estimate the position where to click.
For me in the KDE taskbar i had a small preview window of the launcher, which let me find the play button after a few minutes of trying.
Funciona perfectamente sin retoques.
Instalación y arrancado sin problemas. Se juega de maravilla.
