60fps lock in-game, 60hz in overlay, changed to High settings. Also might launch in the incorrect res unless you enable fullscreen (or toggle it on/off).
Xbox login first-time startup, also an oddity on launch is that the game has this introductory separate logo startup that sometimes just doesn't display (black screen with audio) but you still get into the game just fine.
Drops to 40fps area pretty frequently, especially if you're in the games faster cars and going 200-250mph through the map, LOD/pop in crisis on any settings (an issue with the game itself). Quite CPU heavy and thats why drops occur.
Nice bonus is that this one has proper 16:10 support. Little difficult on the small screen but totally playable.

Decent amount of texture bugs. Distant terrain turning white, vegetation turning all white/black, random objects having a purple tint. Nothing game-breaking though.
Signing in from desktop mode is impossible, but it works fine in game mode.

runs perfectly out of the box, good framerate on high preset

12 TDP
There is a sign in for microsoft account, but this can be completed whilst launching from gaming mode
You have to sign into your microsoft account via the generic screen, then you are good to go.
You do not have to launch the game from desktop mode to be able to log in to the microsoft account.
I set TDP to 12W and set an FPS cap of 45.
Runs great on medium settings, 1200x800.

changed face buttons to manage clutch better
at times. not unplayable. once tuned from youtube recommended settings it's way better.
very slight issues when in large areas but so rare i don't even remember specifics.
Amazing on Deck OLED. Never was even into car games before. Loved mastering the different car types on tracks.

The game requires you to log into Xbox, the login window only works in Desktop Mode.
The game starts with a black screen while the intro plays, once you are on the main menu the game works fine.

TDP 12, FRS ON, 75 FPS Max
VRAM -4GB, файл подкачки 16GB, huge pages ON. FRS On
Базовый тест графики показал стабильный фпс 60-75, в режиме "высокая графика" местами и более. Ограничение на 75фпс, при TDP 12 позволяют играть без проблем более 3х часов.

changed clutch and shift up shift down to A, B, and X respectively
sometimes it looks like the text is cut or split down like a line

The intro video was a black screen with audio. But after a few seconds the menu showed and the game plays really well 👍
Had to launch first in desktop mode, then login to Microsoft account. Then could switch back to game mode.
When launched in desktop mode, the login window was tricky to select and populate with Microsoft login details.

So far I've been playing plugged into power so haven't felt any need to try any battery-related adjustments
Logging in to your MS account requires using the keyboard, and it launched into a black screen first time I launched the game. But I was still able to log in, I just had to exit the game after logging in, and relaunch. But it all worked seamlessly from there, no need to go into desktop mode (in theory, I had an issue where even though it would log me in, it still wouldn't launch, but it seems completely random and eventually worked).
The options in the bottom left are almost impossible to read, and some of the other menus can be difficult

Microsoft Login Required! Opens up a browser window to go through login process.
Some loading screens when restarting races were longer than normal.
Getting through the Microsoft login and some occasional long loading times, the game works great.

Inclusive corre perfecramente en Ultra pero a 30fps, al ser un juego de carreras y por el tamaño de la pantalla recomiendo jugarlo en Alto a 45fps

Game runs great out of box. Worth it for those that dont like to tinker to run games on deck.
Set game to dynamic quality. Turned off fps cap in game and set the deck to 40hz. Also turned on allow tearing but not required. Game runs like a dream. Could run at 60 but ADHD doesnt like frame drops lol. Should get 2+hours game time. Certainly more with more conservative settings.
Microsoft login popped up but worked fine. Check it hasn't opened as an extra Steam window if you don't see it after intro movies. Hold Steam+X to use the mouse and bring up keyboard. But not a problem as such.

limit to 40 fps to increase battery life
- requires login into Microsoft account
- for low settings benchmark gives 82 fps (69 fps low)

First launch has to be in desktop mode to link xbox account.

You must start the game in Desktop Mode to be able to login into your Microsoft account. Afterwards you can play in Gaming Mode.
Turn off Fullscreen in Desktop mode first or else you won't be able to play. Afterwards you can run in Gaming mode just fine.
Some frame drops can happen while connected online in the open world areas (During actual races it runs fine). You have the option of playing solo in the open world, which can avoid this issue. Loading screens can take a bit.
If you're an achievement hunter, you won't be able to get all achievements as some require online activities that have already concluded.

Microsoft Login
Smaller text in the bottom left screen is very hard to read.
Run in Windowed Mode
Must use external keyboard and mouse to login to Microsoft account. System keyboard does not work.
Runs great on Steam Deck. However, It does require some tinkering in Desktop Mode to get started.
- Install game as usual.
- Switch to Desktop Mode and launch Forza Horizon 4 (the Microsoft login screen doesn't appear in gaming mode, only a black screen.)
- You must use an external keyboard and mouse to log in to your Microsoft account in the login window that opens. The system keyboard will not open.
- Change Forza's settings to Windowed Mode and exit game.
- Return to Gaming Mode and everything should now be working. Note Initial load times can be long. Give it time.

locked to 40fps
setting to fullscreen somtimes gets stuck in a black screen
just started it wih protonGE, and connected my steam account with xbox, didn't have to go into desktop mode

Need to be in desktop mode the first time loading up the game in order to show the Microsoft login, it will just show a black screen otherwise in gaming mode.
Inconsistent frame times that are resolved by locking the frame rate on the deck.

Games launches but requires you to sign in, when attempting to sign in firstly the keyboard doesn't open so had to install a keyboard emulator to type. Then when details are put in it "signs in" but then takes me back to the game screen and says I need to sign in. When trying to sign in again it just takes me back to the game instantly without being able to put in credentials.

Does seem to boot normally docked to an external monitor.

Microsoft Login
Some text in splash screens and menus is difficult to read
Runs great on the steam deck, steady 60fps with occasional dips to ~55 when racing in busy areas like Edinburgh. It does require some tinkering to actually work though, for various reasons, and I had to combine some others notes to get something that worked for me, so hopefully this can serve as a checklist.
- Install and change compatibility mode to force Proton Experimental
- Switch to Desktop Mode and launch Forza Horizon 4 (the microsoft login screen doesn't appear in gaming mode)
- Using an attached keyboard and mouse, log in to your Microsoft Account in the modern login window that opens (for some reason the on screen keyboard won't launch and the touchpad mouse becomes disabled, though the touch screen works)
- Change Forza's settings to disable Fullscreen. Exit game
- Return to Gaming Mode, edit properties for Horizon 4 to use Native resolution (not default) - if you dont do this the image will be distorted
- Enjoy - everything should be working as expected now

Cryo Utilities + Disabled Shadercaching
Disable shadercaching + Download cryo utilities and it will be one of the smoothest and graphically impressive deck experiences you'll have

Just basic change like 90hz to 60hz
The game as problem on the first launch because of the Microsoft account login you need to go in desktop mode and run the game and use an USB hub or a dock (I personally used the official steam deck dock by valve) and connected a keyboard and a mouse because the integrated trackpad and keyboard of the steam deck won't work and glitch caused by the Microsoft login window
mouse is weird / not usable
Just a few lags sometimes when playing in area with a lot of trees or near water/in water
After the login the game work with no problem just a little lagging when playing sometime or when loading but it's clearly playable but the deck battery is eaten in like 1-2h in high graphic settings

45fps locked, TDP 12w
A bit distorted
This workaround is exclusive to the OLED. If your game doesn't display the intro video and seems to get stick, do the following:
Launch the game first on game mode just to login with xbox. The screen will eventually freeze but try pressing A and wait until the xbox window pops out. Input your credentials then confirm your login. After you login, exit the game. Go to desktop mode. Use a mouse and keyboard for your convenience. Open Forza 4, go to the options > video then turn full screen to "off". That's really what you only need to solve the startup problems.
Even if you enable "offline mode", the game seems to not save when not connected to the internet.
I use the following video settings:
Dynamic optimization - On Dynamic Render Quality - High Res: 1280x800 Frame Rate (in-game) - 90fps Vsync - off Full Screen - off HDR - on Interface scale - 200
At steam settings, cap fps at 45/90 and TDP at 12w. Solid 45fps with some dips to high 30s on some area (very rare and brief only)

Set the resolution to the native deck resolution. Then enable fullscreen.
Game runs pretty well with 60 fps lock, and dynamic high. I do have Cryobyte's Utilities.

Forced Microsoft sign-in was difficult to navigate. Had to fill it out 3 times before it let me into the game.
pretty bad stuttering. doesn't manage 60fps even on the lowest settings without fsr. Turning on fsr, with windowed mode and 1024*768 gets it up to 60fps, but the game looks pretty terrible (blurry and and stretched) with that setup.
frequent crashes, so far ~3 in 3 hours of gameplay. I've played it on windows and it's not as crashy there.
I cannot recommend this due to numerous issues with performance, launcher and stability.
Needed desktop mode to sign into xbox

Proton Experimental
O jogo funciona perfeitamente com proton experimental

Game can not start with full screen enabled.
Game will no longer load on OS 3.5.7 with OLED Steam Deck. Switch to desktop mode, launch the game without any compatability options and navigate through to disable fullscreen in video settings. Switch back to gaming mode and have fun!

Attempted OotB, Experimental, Hotfix, older Proton versions and GE-Proton8-25. Some versions allow the home screen video to play for a second then freeze, some allow xbox login, none let you actually start the game. Was able to launch and access the main menu through desktop mode only. Currently unplayable on OLED with stable 3.5.7.

Just run it under Proton Expiremental, turn the graphics down to low or medium and it runs great.

Was able to run the game on my LCD Steam Deck in Steam OS 3.5, however just set up my Steam Deck OLED and in Steam OS 3.5.7 I can not get the game to boot to a succesful title screen, even after switching to past proton versions and proton experimental

Gme is working grate on the deck with last update and experimental. On high settings constat 50 fps
