Just install and play!

Both the Native and Proton versions work just fine out of the box!
When using a DS4 controller, you need to disable Steam input to get native PS button icons. However, in the Linux version, these icons were mixed up and incorrect. It's the only reason I ended up sticking with Proton.
Aside from the minor controller quirk mentioned above (which made me decide to use the Proton version), both versions work just fine out of the box. I'd recommend giving both a shot to see which one works best for you.

This game runs natively on Linux, but I only played with Proton-Experimental [bleeding-edge].
It was a perfect experience. Without any problems.
Stunning game inspired by the classic JRPGs for SNES and PSX.

8w TDP cap

Perfect
Runs flawlessly with no tinkering
Set TDP and GPU frequency to minimum as it doesn't impact gameplay at all (fps is locked to 60 anyway). Battery life is about 5 hours this way.
In extremely rare cases, texts can be to long to be read (this might be specific to some translations only)
Good game. Ideal in transport because of amazing battery life.
Minor to moderate slowdown on the first combat encounter of each session. Had one instance where I waited 5 minutes for the slowdown to abate, and just force-closed the game instead.
Minor screen tearing issues other than that runs very smoothly.
Runs fine natively. No tinkering needed. You can limit the FPS to save some battery life.
FPS Lock to Improve Battery Life
The native build works perfectly as is. There is minor stuttering during the first battle (each session), but after that it's smooth sailing.
Native version of the game has broken controller support, works great if you swap to Proton
Works perfectly OOTB.
No tinkering or modification nessecary, the game behaves perfectly right out of the box.
My Xbox controller would not work even when diabling Steam input. I had to force use of Proton Experimental in the options menu for the game for it to work correctly even though my games are defaulted to run with Proton Experimental. If I did not force it, the controller would be recognized but would not operate in game.
