12-14w TDP + 40 FPS/40HZ refresh rate
Once, the audio desynced during a cutscene sequence by about 10 seconds. Restart fixed
There was a wierd fog/lighting effect that entered the ship on the ice planet.
To all who said the game runs at 40FPS at 10W TDP, I call bull.
At 14W, there are times where the game struggles to maintain 30-35 FPS, especially on Kashyyyk and Dathomir. During the final boss encounter, there's a section where you're running while the base is falling apart, and my FPS stuttered into the 20s.
That said, the game was overall a mostly enjoyable experience.
EA Game Launch Tips
If you haven't yet run an EA game, follow these steps:
- Switch to Desktop Mode.
- Open a browser and log in to EA's website.
- Link your Steam account—this makes launching EA games a lot easier.
One could use the following launch command, which will SKIP the EA launcher entirely, but you may not get Achievements.
cmd=( %command% ); cmd[-1]="$STEAM_COMPAT_INSTALL_PATH/SwGame/Binaries/Win64/SwGame-Win64-Shipping.exe"; "${cmd[@]}"
Performance & Graphics Settings
- 40FPS with occasional dips to 30-35 FPS as noted.
- Resolution: 1280x800
- Settings: Medium
- Dynamic Resolution Scaling: Off
- Motion Blur: Off
Alternative Tests
- 1152x768 (Performance Settings + FSR Enabled): Looked fine, but I preferred native resolution, as performance was mostly the same.
- Low Settings ("Custom" Trick): Looks awful, especially the shadows.

It runs surprisingly well. It should be a platinum but due to EA launcher the current gold rating is still appropriate
--SteamOS Settings--
Frame Limit: 45 FPS (90Hz)
TDP Limit: 10 Watts
GPU Clock: 900 MHz
FSR: 2 Sharpness
--In Game Video Settings--
Window Mode: Fullscreen
Resolution: 1152x720
Max FPS: 45
HDR: OFF
VSync: OFF
Dynamic Resolution Scaling: ON
Graphics Quality: Medium
Did get a pop up about EA cloud save during testing so I recommend quitting to menu then quitting the game
I got a working 60 FPS but went down the route of battery optimisation

While the sound issue with headphones is annoying, the performance and gameplay works well at 30FPS
In-Game fps set to 30
Have to sign into EA account at least once, easiest to do this in Desktop mode
Databank entries can have small text and are very difficult to read if the game is not played at native resolution
Only sound issues appear when I open the Menu
Fog is an issue even on higher graphics settings. There are times when entering the ship the NPCs will appear to be in complete shadow no matter the amount of light
Had one instance going from Windowed to Fullscreen that the game would then not recognize my controller and took going into Desktop mode until I was able to fix the issue. Continued to play the rest of the game in Windowed mode without significant issues
Issue with controller only happened when changing from Windowed to Fullscreen once. Since then no more controller issues have ocurred
Performance always lags when pressing Start and navigating the menu, FPS goes down to ~24fps no matter the settings and sound will crackle
I played the first 70% without a crash, then I had a few issues in Dathomir but that could have been due to changing other graphic/display options.
This issue was only when trying to use headphones and might be an issue with my device specifically, but when plugging in headphones the volume would get stuck at whatever the sound was set to BEFORE launching the game. If the volume was at 20% and I launch the game, the volume up and down don't actually change volume, the slider will appear but the volume will stay at the same 20%. I would need to quit the game, move the volume to what I wanted it to be and relaunch for the volume to be at what I wanted.
Playing at 30fps I was able to set Graphics to High, except for Shadows (Medium) and the game ran relatively solid throughout except for the menu, but that was annoying and didnt stop me from enjoying the rest of the game

A flawless and blurry free experience with the right settings for the game and the Steam Deck. Check down below to set graphics to LOW
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Disable Frame Limit and set the display to 40 Hz, Allow Tearing and Limit TDP to 10. Running from the SD card
With some settings to LOW we are sitting on 20W from 23W that was draining before, stuttering is fixed and game looks really sharp.
Temporal AA adds a great cinematic effect, but I preffer sharpness over this effect, also there are many textures that do really pop up now, so IMO game is a lot more enjoyable without Anti-Aliasing
As you may know if you already played this game before, graphics cannot be lowered from MEDIUM and there's no way to disable Temporal AA which makes the game a washed out and blurry fest. Thankfully there's a workaround:
- Enter Settings -> Video -> and hover over "Graphics Quality" which are the presets
- Press A to select it, and then press B without any other input between. This'll set all settings to LOW and disable AA
Here is my settings list:
Max FPS 45 (Irrelevant)
Vsync: ON
Dynamic Resolution: OFF ( Game looks really bad with this on and the deck is more than capable of delivering a native resolution)
View distance: MEDIUM
Shadow Quality: LOW
Anti-Aliasing: OFF
Texture Quality: HIGH
Visual Effects: MEDIUM
Motion Blur: OFF (I usually play my games with this but this game looks really blurry)
Film Grain: OFF
Chromatic: OFF
Camera Shake: ON

运行稳定,帧数保持流畅,游戏也很棒。就是资料的字体太小了,字幕倒凑合看。80%60fps, 19%48-60fps, lower than 30fps when lanch new map.
菜单界面里的各种资料收集物的文字太小了,无法完全渲染清楚,就算插了显示器也是看不清的。Menu library words too small.

45 FPS in game cap and quick access 45 Hz cap.
flickering textures while half rate shading is on
Weird problem with resolution being broken on start (4:3 with small res). Can be fixed by changing window mode to fullscreen again while in game. This probably happened because of steamOS 3.6 update.
When moving to the new location stutters to 10 FPS (game installed on SD card)
medium settings with high textures, variable shading off. dynamical res on or off depending on area.

Game launched but does not register steam deck as x-input controller. Tried Default Proton, Experimental and Proton GE.
Only way I could get the game to launch was to map the controller as K+M

There is a strange issue with the fog that casues to to be higher than it should as well as some minor lighting issues. Overall still fun and enjoyable.

Locked to 45 FPS
Decrease the settings to Medium (except set Texture Quality to high). The game should run without any issues.

capped @ 40FPS for performance and small bettery gains
capped @ 40FPS for performance and small bettery gains, overall ran well
30 fps lock
fps is OK most of the time, but drops to ~10 at certain points

DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
had to get ea app to run under various older proton builds 7-5 and 7.55. took ages but finally it runs under GE proton 8-2. also had to redo the steam to EA reg.

Capped refresh rate to 40Hz. 13Watt TDP and 1100Mhz GPU clock lock.
The biggest issue I discovered is that this game cannot be played from and SD card. This game suffers from stutters and stuff. On the internal storage of the deck, it may drop to 35FPS in some places. But when installed on the SD card, those same places could drop to the single digits making it totally unplayable. Keep this game installed on the SSD and it is a great experience.
I still rather playing it in windows tho than in a Linux system. the proton things make me dizzy.
Proton Experimental
Limit the FPS to 40, and medium quality in-game
The Crash in Planet Bogano, it's actually from the customisation skin change of BD-1, so i Suggset just use default skin of BD-1. Suprisingly tha cause some problem for the game.
So to play this game the best option for the proton is Proton Experimental. things that can cause crash game in Steamdeck :
- don't forget turning off the steam remote play.
- For the steam client update channel, use "Steam Deck Beta".
- For the skin of BD-1 just use default skin or original skin.
and also sometimes the origin of EA play ask for another internet in order to launch the game.(the EA play must launch if you wanna play the game. it drives me crazy i have to be online all the time)
Hope that helps all of the player.
Capped FPS at 40, rendered the game at 1152x768 and upsampled via gamescope FSR. Minor visual impact but increased the frame timing, which made the game feel a bit more smooth.
EA launcher is a bit annoying. Does not support offline play for example.
Seemed a bit blurry and tad bit too small (even at native resolution)
Some serious stuttering, probably due to shader cache. Frame timing is also all over the place, but could limit most of it by rendering the game at a lower resolution.
Had to restart EA app installation several times but eventually it installed. It took a while for the installation to complete.
Works fine on the Steam Deck. The EA app might give you some problems like black screen, stuck at installation, etc but nothing a restart won't fix.
Small fps drops. Leaving the games fps cap at 60 while capping your performance fps to 40 makes it more stable it seemed.
How to play offline!
The game won't start unless you're connect to the internet, however there's a work around!!! Setting the Force compatibility to GE-Proton7-50. then lunching the game causes a EA pop-up stating you're offline. Few seconds after that, the game will start like normal! (Tip: You can use touch screen to close the EA pop-up.)

Tdp 13. 45 fps Rafraichisement image 45
Chite de fps même avec le tdp a 15 et les fps a 30.
10h de jeux et 2 crash
Stable dans l'ensemble et jouable
runs fine with proton ge, 40 fps across the board, the deck does get pretty hot, around 80c
settings medium
rfresh rate set to 40
tdp set to 10
gpu clock set to 1100
tldr, run proton ge expect 1 1/2 hours of battery life
Turned off half rate shading or skin flickers
some flashing skin textures if half rate shading is left on, otherwise works perfect
installed and it just worked. Already had EA installed for Madden, didn't need to do anything else.

EA APP無法正常啟動,EA APP在啟動時會凍結然後卡死,導致遊戲無法開啟。 如果直接啟動遊戲也會在開啟過程卡死導致只能槍支關。
I changed the screen refresh rate to 40hz via Steam overlay config.
It took a couple extra minutes to install the EA Launcher.
The game performed best for me at 40fps with 40hz refresh rate. Draw Distance and Shadows set to Medium, all other graphics set to High.
Locked to 30
It's not going to cause issues but some text is very small
Made sure to link my steam and ea accounts and installed on the main drive rather than the micro sd. It takes a good while to boot up and looks like it's crashed but bear with it and it's all good
FPS to 45, Refresh rate to 45, TDP to 12, GPU clock to 1200
Menu font is small. In game HUD and Subtitles are OK because those can be adjusted by in-game settings.
- Limit FPS to 45 for both of in-game and Steam Deck setting with 45 hz of refresh rate shows very good perfomance with medium graphic preset.
- But make sure that keep Half Rate Shading OFF. If it's on, skin flashing issue occurs.
I'm unable to get through the EA app when I launch the game from SteamOS. None of the solutions seem to fix the issue.
Played the game on release though my laptop when origin was the second launcher. I have followed multiple posts and have linked the game through EA play. It seems that sometime within the last 2 months the game has been migrated to their new launcher. Opens on laptop just fine. When opening through steam I see the EA launcher popup, then it goes back the steam menu. I have tried various versions of proton. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
some issue on initial loading of scenes, but after max 5 sec, its gone

40 fps / 40 hz
Knowledge entries were hard to read on the Deck
Dathomir was slightly choppier than the other planets. Still enjoyable and not a big issue.
Randomly, not often.
Limited FPS to 45
First time launching the game, EA launcher crashed, any subsequent launches worked fine, even tho it can take around a minute to lauch
45Hz screen refresh rate, 45fps in game limit with vsync and and medium graphics setting seems like sweet spot
framerate Limit 40, refreash rate 40, Half Rate Shading OFF, TDP 10, GPU CLOCK 1100
its EA.... nuff said

Framerate limited to 45 FPS (both in Steam and in the game). Thermal Power limit set to 15 Watts
EA App crashed first time. I had to force close it (after waiting 5 minutes). On all subsequent tries however the EA app has run, minimised itself after a couple of seconds and caused no issues.
Saves on Steam deck dont sync reliably to cloud. On several occassions I picked up game on PC and discovered the last save from the Steam Deck wasnt available.
Easy install. Game works pretty much out of the box, excluding that first experience where the EA launcher crashed, but that only happened once. However the game requires an internet connection to launch, which limits its usability on the Steam deck.

I set FPS limit / Refresh rate to 40fps to save battery.
Need good eyesight.
Skin color flashing. This can be fixed by settings Visual Effects: to EPIC in game Video settings. Other Video settings I set to medium.
FrameRate Limit 40 &60 Refreash rate 40 & 60 halfrate shading tried on & off TDP tried 10 & 15, GPU Clock tried 500, 1000, 1600
skin tone flash white
Assuming you're willing to deal with the EA app and know its shortcomings (i.e. You need some form of internet connection).
The EA app is required, both for account linking and actually running the title. Should the Deck be offline, the app can't connect and will not attempt to launch anything else and you'll get an infinite Steam loading screen.
This applies even if the account is already linked, as I assume the app has no form of offline mode and will have to do an actual handshake that you own the game.

EA App doesn't work unless you switch to Proton Experimental. You need to link EA App account with Steam account to get past the initial login screen. Once linked you can launch the game and play without issues.
