To fix the audio missing or being out of sync, change to GE-Proton8-32 and used the aforementioned launch option.
Without tinkering, the audio was out of sync in the opening movie and the other videos didn't play.

The overall experience is fine, but if some videos don't play, you won't get the full context of the story.
In other proton versions, the op desyncs.
In all the versions of proton I have tried, the video that plays when you reach the flying ruins doesn't play.

Default proton works well. ProtonGE loses audio in the cutscenes and the usual "GST_PLUGIN_FEATURE_RANK=protonaudioconverterbin:NONE %command%" workaround to get audio does not work.
I play in Japanese and by default you will see boxes in some fo the dialog windows. Need to change the game's locale to Japanese by setting the launch command to: "HOST_LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%"

The game crashed after selecting Escha or Logy
The game crashed after selecting Escha or Logy. Runing the game in proton experimental, 8, 7 and 6 made no difference. Same goes for xorg and wayland.

Works almost flawlessly
Since this is part of the same trilogy as Atelier Ayesha, I think it's safe to assume you'll experience the same thing like in the other game
Setting launch option LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 %command%
is required to play in Japanese. Some characters won't display correctly otherwise.
Opening movie and cut-ins won't play, which is a long-running issue for asf playback.
Works perfectly, but unplayable in Japanese.
Everything work except when you are using Japanese language, where some fonts display as tofu/squares and not recognizable, making the game unplayable.
I've tried the following tweaks but neither works:
- Installing fonts with winetricks:
winetricks fakajapanese takao
- Sym-linking all fonts in my windows 10 partition to the font folder in the wine prefix
- Changing locale (
LC_ALL
,LANG
) toja_JP.UTF-8
orja_JP.EUC-JP
No problems to report. Working well out of the box.
Ran fine out of the box, no tweaks needed. Performance seems good.
To get the game to work past the white screen glitch the same fixes need to be applied as to other Gust ports launch the game with PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 and put a dxvk.conf file in the game directory with the content: d3d9.deferSurfaceCreation = True
