Is finally playable on the Deck with the latest GE > Made Custom Controller Layout for the game.
No problems as far as I've seen, though there's only a dozen or so people online as of right now.
If you didn't need GE to run it, it would be a solid OOTB. No performance issues, and no problems so far aside from a weird micro-stutter when the mouse hovers over the menu buttons, but this is very minor. When starting up the first time, the default display will be 4:3 1024x768. 16:10 1280x800 is supported, but your need to manually switch to it. Do also keep in mind, you need to reinstall the whole game if it's already installed on your device, and it doesn't work even if you launch it with GE 9-23. Don't really know why, but I haven't had a problem since. I've also taken the liberty of making my own custom controller layout for this game. Tested on both the Deck, and with a regular controller. All functions are intended for the default controls. Even an Action Toggle is included for the Sound and Chat functions. I hope this all helps.
On GE-Proton9-23 game finally works. On first startup needs a few minutes to create prefix.

Controller not detected, only keyboard and mouse.
Small amount of players.
Due to the obforscation, the game currently does not work with Steam Deck. We are looking into resolving this issue.
I am the current developer/publisher of Project Torque.
The game does work really well without the obfuscation executable. Running 60fps at 5-8 watts of power draw and 30-40 at 5=6 watts. The menu system does not have native controller support but the touchscreen works well. The game is designed for older monitors so the UI scale is perfect. We need to implement Steam SDK to bring up the keyboard automatically and have Steam Controller support added. Currently, it acts like an Xbox controller and works fine but Steam Controller would be a better experience.
Even install protontricks game crashed after select server in menu.

Install Windows DLL: d3dx9_36, dotnet35sp1 and mfc80
game wont start at all
Didn't start
Other than taking 15-20 seconds to first start and having to get around none-touch UI, it is fine.
Install Windows DLL/Comps - d3dx9_36 & dotnet35sp1 & mfc80 (might "fail to download" but it installs anyway)
Normal expected experince for PT. Login and Server connection a tad slower than normal.
I am the publisher and "dev" of this game.
The game runs almost fine with Wine 5.20 (not Steam Proton) and without any python scripts after using "winetricks dotnet35".
All you need is to use d3d9 from D9VK with library override. However, it has no fonts and probably for the same reason I'm unable to enter my login data. See the link to the screenshot of what it looks like. With Steam Proton it can't run at all. If someone can find a fix for the missing fonts, it would be perfectly playable. I tried copying all corefonts from the wine prefix to the proton prefix but that didn't change anything and the game still shows up without fonts.
Custom Python script for .NET 3.5
Aside from escape issues, not all resolutions were listed, regardless if 16:9, 4:3, 16:10, or even in Windowed mode.
At one point it randomly crashed. During next session it never once died.
From what I could gather, the only thing that kicks the bucket for the game is .NET. However, a user on Github, namely Izalia Mae made a script, that downloads, installs, and sets up .NET 3.5 with WINE, and WineTricks, for the game to run. His/Her install script can be found down below. Other issues, such as missing textures, as I understand it, might come from DXVK, and instead, you should use D9VK. But for one, the game uses either Dx9 or even Dx8. So while D9VK should be more appropriate, it may or may not really. Tho it shouldn't be much of a problem, to add the "PROTON_USE_D9VK" flag to launch options for the game. I have yet to test it with D9VK, and instead just used the python script, to solve issues with .NET, but I guess, I know what I'm gonna be doing next time. Oh, and there's also the issue with Fullscreen. Upon first boot, the game defaults to 1024x768, fullscreen, so after the tutorial, you should really change that. If your just gonna sit down, and ignore the world for a session, I guess the inablity to Alt-Tab out of the game, when fullscreen isn't gonna be a major issue. But for others, I reckon that Windowed mode, is what they need. Unfortunately, there's no option for 1600x900 for example, which is my preferred resolution for a game in windowed, on a 1080p monitor. Still, 1366x768, while wacky, it still works just fine. Github page for the python script (just download it and follow the given instructions): https://git.barkshark.xyz/izaliamae/pt-launcher
Might be unable to install Microsoft NET Framework at the start
Crashes on startup
Does not start
I have tried both the current version of Proton and the last version available, to no luck.
Using Proton the game starts but without any menus. The only visible things are 2 dark lines where the login form is supposed to be. Using Wine 4.13 with DLL override (D9VK 0.20) the game starts and everything is visible except for one thing: it has absolutely no text which makes me think the fonts aren't being loaded.
