(< 1 hour with Proton)It worked fine for me out of the box.
It worked perfectly for me when I tried it.
The only wierdness is that my video card's fan was running pretty loudly the whole time, far more than you'd expect with these graphics. Given that others have reported performance issues and I have a reasonably fast GPU, it's possible that there's a performance bug somewhere that will cause problems with slower video cards.

Performance:Slight Performance Problems
Couldn't provide number but performance feels subpar - However I believe this was also experienced in windows, game is in Early Access so further polish from developers expected to resolve at a later date.
Game can run a bit slow at times but still enjoyable. Controller support not tested.
