with steam deck hardware, this title isnt optimized very well and has poor framerate even on low graphics settings.
text is small and can be hard to read especally with FSR
is pretty demanding even on low settings, dips <20 fps common
work and runs just not optimized for the steam deck

I was having issues with audio crackling on GE-Proton 7-26, but after I switched to Proton 7.0-3 that all went away, and the game plays nicely now.
Once the game loses main focus, I was unable to see the game anymore, just a black window.
Ran with these Launch Options: PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -force-d3d11
Otherwise the game refused to run at all.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% -force-d3d11
savegame is lost after uninstall/reinstall (not saved in steam cloud?)
setting shadows to medium+ will kill fps, so stick to 'low'

Glorious Eggroll Proton-6.8-GE-1
The game is practically unplayable.
Every time I get to the ritual at the beginning of the game it just stays stuck there with Proton 5.13-6, with any other version of proton I can't even get the game to start.
1fps, if that, at any resolution above 720p. no other settings have any effect, and only after loading screen reaches 100%
unplayable frame rate at any resolution above 720, and even 720 it is barely breaking 15-20fps. no other setting aside from resolution makes any difference at all.
especially weird considering the prologue runs just fine, max graphics at 4k
problem occurs when loading screen reaches 100, the games loading screen noticeably slows to a crawl, and it continues for everything after that, weather it be the menus or the game its self. oddly enough the main menu runs perfectly.
Everything works well. Controls are responsive and graphics is nice even when shadows are on low settings.
Proton Experimental
Performance: Slight Performance Problems I have low FPS with shadows higher than low. Other settings have a little influence on performance
I added this to Launch Options. It helped a bit with performance: allow_glsl_extension_directive_midshader=true force_glsl_version=420 force_integer_tex_nearest=true MESA_NO_ERROR=1 %command%
The frame rate is painful to say the least. The game isn't even close to playable.
Slowdown after a map transition with textures set above LOW.
Framerate is bad with texture quality set above LOW; it may take a map change for the drop to occur, but it will drop.
Use Proton Experimental
I am not able to achieve a stable 144fps even with my hardware, but it may be the game and not proton. I don't have windows installed to test the difference in performance, but it's playable if you don't mind playing at 60fps which is absolutely fine.
Be sure to use Proton Experimental to run the game without problems or else you may find yourself stuck in some cutscenes.
Use Proton Experimental if you want the game to run without any problems. It will fix most of the problems.
Everything works well. Controls are responsive and graphics is nice even when shadows are on low settings.
