Gamepad input requires an old Proton version, mouse-and-keyboard-based input and gameplay works flawlessly and the game runs smoothly.
Main menu background video does not display on newest Proton version, shows "test pattern" in Proton 6.3-4
Only one input device is supported per session (and is not switchable, but that is the game's fault), only Proton 6.3-4 allowed the game to detect the steering wheel at all.
After ~1 hour, the game threw multiple consequent Runtime Exceptions, causing the complete Wine process to freeze; needed to kill it via Steam.
Post-processing seems to add something like a film grain effect in certain situations, though I'm unsure if that's due to the graphics settings, Proton, or a general problem with the game.
The longer a session was, the higher the probability of AI trams blocking tracks. Could be a general problem with the game, because the previous tram game from ViewApp, TramSim, had the same problem once.
Without Proton Experimental, the introductory video sequences would not play. Starting the tutorials would leave me with a white screen (though I could, for a second, see the tutorial loaded when ALT+TAB'ing back to Steam).
With Proton Experimental, everything works as expected. Post-processing could look a little off because the game sometimes add something like a "film grain" effect but I'm unsure if that's also the case on Windows.
Also, there's no Denuvo DRM or such as one previous report mentioned. No problems with such software whatsoever.
Runs, aside from slight usability degradations, flawlessly
Whenever Windows dialogs appear, the main menu hides behind the fullscreen window reserved for 3D drawing; all OMSI-menus are selectable via [Alt]+[Tab]
(KDE).
In-Game menu (arrow in the lower right hand corner) is only accessible by pressing [Alt]
, sometimes only shows at the second try after re-focussing the 3D fullscreen window.
Pressing [ESC]
will not cause a 3D freeze-frame but rather cycling through the last 10 drawn frames.
Works flawlessly, including the German localisation, out of the box
No bugs or problems making this game unplayable on my hardware. Most of the time >30 FPS, in tunnels often >60 FPS
AI Flexity Trams sometimes miss one or more bending segments and departure monitors at stations sometimes flicker.
Pressing F12 for Steam Screenshots successfully takes the screenshot (and saves it silently, i.e. without notification) but also crashes the game immediately.
