Game has shader compilation stuttering for the first while of the game, as well as each time you enter a new area. Sometimes these stutters will completely freeze the game for multiple seconds, but it never resulted in a crash. They go away after the shader compilation has happened the first time, but beware that a reinstall will delete the shader cache and you will be back to square 1.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50 mangohud %command%
"PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=50" Fixed my crackling issues, but will slightly delay your audio. You may be able to get away with a smaller delay depending on your system.
Full screen will cause a blank screen at launch. Need to switch to windowed mode, but that has a small white border around the screen.
Game will periodically drop inputs. It's incredibly annoying as changing direction/movement is vital to gameplay.
Game has mixed optimization. With my system, I can't even maintain 60fps in city or foliage driven maps, even with optimized settings (turning down fog/volumetrics will help if you have performance issues). I've been told that my experience is an outlier, but even when I played on windows performance was identical.
If you are having issues launching the game after an update, always try verifying game files before posting that it doesn't work. This should be a standard step in any troubleshooting, but it's surprising how often this isn't peoples' first step.
Native game will open on the wrong monitor the next time you launch if you exit the game in borderless windowed mode.
Native version has performance stutters, slow downs, and even occasional crashes when playing with lots of mods. If you experience this issue, switch to playing through proton and your issues will largely go away.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 mangohud %command%
I experience audio crackling on cpu demanding titles, but the launch arg "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30" fixed it for me. You can try upping or lowering the latency depending on your system.
Game experiences slowdowns over long play sessions.
The game, for some reason, makes calls to the Steam overlay. If you disable the overlay, these calls stack up and eventually cause significant stuttering after 30'ish minutes of play. Enabling the overlay will completely fix the issue.
As with most Linux native ports (sadly), it isn't built as well as its Windows counterpart and can have a variety of bugs. If you face any issues, just switch to proton as it runs flawlessly.
Launch args (aside from mango) may help if you have issues crashing after intro cinematics. Before intro cinematics, it will say the game has stopped, but just wait and it will continue.
VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv MANGOHUD=1 %command%
1st launch arg provided a 10%-15% performance boost. The game is quite demanding, so the free performance is welcome. The "STEAMDECK=1" launch arg is not required anymore. You will get an error in-game upon login giving an EOS error & it will ask you to verify your game files, but this will not do anything. You will still get the EOS error, but online play is fully functional.
