Can't get past the launcher
I tried normal, experimental and GE versions of proton, but nothing worked no matter what I did, which may be for the better considering this game also wants kernel access for its anticheat, which could be the reason why it won't go past the launcher.
I also saw a few reviews about the anticheat itself on the game's steam page about how its almost impossible to remove from your machine without command line tools, so if you're on Linux you may have dodged a bullet (no pun intended). This game is owned by Tencent too, which paired with the Kernel level anticheat its a huge red flag in my opinion.
Can't get past Rockstar's launcher
I tried both normal Proton and ProtonGE, none of them worked.

You have to set the command in the game's properties to launch. It won't launch without it
Perfectly playable if you don't mind the laggy launcher.
Launcher gets a bit laggy while updating the game or interacting with the launcher interface.
This doesn't interfere with the update process, and the game is perfectly playable. You can always mark the 'AUTO-PLAY' box in the launcher so you don't have to deal with it next time you want to play.
Fully playable so far if you don't mind navigating the menus with your mouse instead of your headset controller.
Quest 2 controllers not working on the menu, had to use a mouse to start the game and load my save file. After that, gameplay was smooth on ALVR with my Quest 2
Game runs smooth and reached Sandtraps with no issue, only problem comes with the main menu interface. Guns movement and interactions worked out of the box.
