Definitive edition works excellent on Deck. Very minor technical hiccups aside, game runs right out of the gate without configuration.
A few times across the whole playthrough combat would randomly slow to a crawl. Extremely infrequent.
Game crashed exactly once across my whole playthrough. Didn't lose any progress, but might have been frustrating if it had happened with worse timing.
Certain UI text can be hard to make out. Pretty minimal gameplay impact.
During one round my framerate was suddenly cut in half this and this persisted until restart. Only other issue is that left mouse click consistently doesn't work in-game until I press the corresponding button on the Deck console; this has to be done every time the game is booted up. Affortmentioned issue is trivial and doesn't affect the game experience.
No issues hosting or connecting to games
A playable version if this is your only way of experiencing the game, but pretty poor performance overall.
Downloaded and installed Steam Deck Essentials Mod from Nexus Mods
Text is unreadable below 720p. Even at that resolution it's on the smaller side with no option to adjust font size.
The game's optimization seems very poor right now. Struggles to hold anything above 40 fps, and that's with multiple layers of performance configuration and minimum settings.
The game runs perfectly for the most part, but the default controls are very cumbersome for certain sections.
Rebound a button to left mouse click and the right stick to mouse input for chapter 5
The final section of chapter 5 is impossible on controller without custom remapping to emulate keyboard+mouse inputs
Strongly recommend using the right trackpad and gyro to emulate mouse input for different sections. The cursor and aiming minigames feel impossible on analog, and the last section of the game can't even be beaten without custom config. Strongly recommend playing with keyboard and mouse if you have the option.
Golden trinkets are identifiable but have incorrect colors.
Downloading specific mods can cause the game to chug on startup. Actual performance past the main title is pretty much perfect, but boot up can last a couple minutes depending on which workshop items you have.
Infrequent crashes using specific workshop mods (Fiend Folio Reheated primarily). Fairly easy to isolate and uninstall the source of the problems as long as you don't download a bunch of items at once.
