Creating a DXVK config file is required to launch and play the game, but controller support might not work out-of-box
Create a dxvk.conf
in the same folder as Atelier_Firis_DX.exe
just like the reports from Atelier Ryza 2 does. Add d3d9.deferSurfaceCreation = True
line in dxvk.conf
or the game will start with a blank white screen.
The resolution of game window is sometimes changed back to 1280x720 after switching to other applications.
The controller I have (Logitech F310) does not work on this game(Xbox mode, with and without Steam controller override; this controller works fine in non-DX Atelier Sophie).
Digital Art Book can not be launched in the launcher, and the intro movie is not able to be played in the game with the default Proton.

The game window will be downsize to about 1280x720 after switching to other applications(using fullscreen mode). In windowed mode its always 1280x720.
Update: disable "xbox configuration support" in Steam Big Picture Controller Settings, then go to game Properties->Controller, set override to "Disable Steam Input" makes the controller worked and detected by the game(in-game prompt became X/Y/A/B instead of keyboard keys).
Digital Art Book can not be launched in the launcher, and the intro movie is not able to be played in the game with the default Proton.
Works great out of the box, except the opening/ending videos
Window resolution might drop to 1280x720 in MATE desktop after minimizing window or switch to another workspace, but this does not happen when using KDE.
Some older Proton has some game startup issues but 6.3 series just works fine.
Controllers works fine.
game performs the same as on Windows
Also tried proton 8.0 with lutris (launching with non-Steam version which is available on the official website), the game just works well.
Works smoothly out of the box, and is able to finish the main gameplay without any crash (OP/ED movies also works)
My controller (logitech F310) is not detected in the game (the game always shows visual prompts for keyboard and input from controller doesn't works), with or without Steam Input.
Visuals are smooth and enjoyable with 5600G after lowering Bloom and Shadow settings. Using the "Exit Game" button in main menu will make the game freeze, but closing the window just works.
Works perfectly
Visuals are smooth and enjoyable with Ryzen 5 5600G after lowering Bloom and Shadow settings.
Using the "Exit Game" button in main menu will make the game freeze, but closing the window just works.
My controller is detected and worked well with "The Steam Overlay" enabled in Steam Settings, "Xbox Configuration Support" ticked in Controller Settings of Big Picture and "use default settings" in game properties.
Logitech F310 not detected or worked in the game
Movies will not play, and needs to disable Movies in config or the game will randomly crash during movie playback, or even crash before main menu shows.
see Github issue to add the missing functions: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5513
After added the functions, the game works fine except the movies.
Movies might sometimes freeze with default setting; turn on "Use Inner VP9 Decoder" in game setting tool seems able to avoid that.
With Steam Overlay enabled, my controller is detected and works well now; in-game prompts displayed with controller button as intended.
Finished main story of the game without any issue using `Proton: 1672857942 experimental-7.0-20230104`.
Video playback now works well with current Proton Experimental.
