Game starts for a brief second with a spinning loading circle and black screen, then crashes.
At least it kind of starts... M$, fix your damn game...
Sort of starts when renaming the video files, then it crashes my GPU

Renamed the video files by appending ".bup" to the end of each one. Game starts, has a loading wheel, starts playing music, then completely crashes my graphics card before showing any kind of menu or models. The launch option makes no difference for me. I switched from 4K to 1080p and it makes no difference. Just trashes my GPU lol
Barely starts, knocks out my graphics card...
Yeah, it shows the loading throbber, plays some generic Halo monk music, and then completely crashes my graphics card, forcing me to restart. On the bright side, it keeps me from playing my $60 buyer's remorse.
To get this far, I had to rename all the video files so that they wouldn't load. Else, it would crash instantly. I appended .bup to the filename. You can also rename them to anything, or delete them.
Startup videos play, game crashes after loading screen
I can view the opening videos and see the loading screen video with the mountains and he loading bar. But, after it finishes loading, it crashes completely.
The graphics look like a mobile port and it is absolutely abismal. Otherwise, pretty good.
Extremely low resolution models & textures
Playable.
There was brief but noticable flickering on the geometry of the main menu when first booting and when switching from a different tab to the main menu. It lasted about 1 second and did not impact the game experience.
Worked very well, but at one point was completely disconnected from Xbox Live. This is likely an issue with the game, as it's developed by 343 Industries and I was using the new Customs Browser.
The game had massive texture issues for me with resizable BAR disabled. All textures were low resolution and blurry, with low detail models despite me maxing out the settings. I found that renaming or deleting the videos folder fixed the issue. After updating my BIOS to gain resizable BAR support, the game runs smoothly without modifying the video files, and all the textures and models work as expected. Of course, models are still noticably ugly when they first load because the game is trash. However, it is still better than the Xbox One port.
If you have a newer GPU, it will run well. If you have 8GB or less VRAM, take a hike. This game is absurdly bad on cards with less VRAM :(

Deleted startup videos
Multiplayer is smooth and seamless. However, on my older GPU (Radeon RX 58700XT), this game would usually not load maps and would crash and freeze and not load models correctly, even on low or medium settings at 1080p.
This game runs flawlessly and is very enjoyable on my Radeon RX 7900XTX. However, if you have an older card, or a lower spec card, it may not run well at all. This game is nearly unplayable on the RX 5700XT, and would not be enjoyable at all.
On my new card, it gets high framerates at 4K native and ultra settings, and no bugs, even with ray traced shadows enabled. Halo is back... if you have a good PC.
Runs Perfectly On Fedora and Ubuntu
Fatal crash error on older Proton versions. Proton Experimental works perfectly with no additional tweaking necessary. Can confirm gamepads work as expected. Can play at 4K ultra no graphical glitches or bugs.
Game installs, does not launch (DX12 error)
RADV_PERFTEST=rt,gpl,ext_ms VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command%
I've tried Proton-GE-8.14, Proton Experimental, and Proton Hotfix. I've tried with, and without the following launch options. Keep in mind, I have no trouble running other DX12 games.
Game installs but doesn't start (DX12 error)
RADV_PERFTEST=rt,gpl,ext_ms VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command%
I've tried with and without the above launch commands. I've also tried Proton Experimental, Proton Hotfix, and the default one. I get a small popup stating:
"DX12 is not supported on your system which is required to run this game"
I am able to play other DX12 games without issue like Mortal Kombat 11, Control, and Cyberpunk 2077.
Works really well! Great game, too!
I previously reported it wouldn't start. I closed Steam, re-opened it, a couple updates came in, and it worked. Don't know why it didn't work right after install, though it could be because I pre-loaded it and tried to play it early and Steam didn't see it needed an update? At any rate, seems like a problem with Steam preloading the game rather than the game itself.
Newer versions of Proton do not work correctly, and older versions suddenly don't work either
The latest version of GE Proton seems to be borked. Also, Proton Experimental does not work for me in this game. I tried using the old Proton-6.12-GE-1 but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Proton 6.3-8 works, but still has performance issues that make it run worse than it reasonably should.
