The native version had some flickering issues that made it pretty annoying to play. The fix is to run the game under Proton.

From the games library, right-click the game -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibilty tool" -> Select "Proton Experimental" from the drop down. Worked fine after doing this!
