Enjoyable out-of-the-box experience
The game has crashed a couple of times within the span of 70+ hours (and those did not appear to be Proton-related), but other than that was quite stable.
Very minor stability issues (likely with the game itself), otherwise almost perfect.
Perfect out-of-the-box experience
Two (almost) full playthroughs with no noticeable issues whatsoever. Xinput controller, fullscreen 4K.
The game is fully functional out of the box with the current (7.0) Steam Proton, but some boss cutscenes do not work - weirdly enough the opening video and a few of those boss videos are playing (a step up from Proton-6.3 which could not play the intro).
With GE-Proton7-21 all cutscenes are in place and everything runs perfectly. No issues at all with two USB controllers for co-op, and the game can be completed w/all achievements (although, achievements do not unlock immediately and only pop-up in bulk when you exit the game - probably not related to Proton).
