You will need to change the names of two executables to be able to launch through steam.
Firstoff, open the games directory by right clicking it in your steam library > properties > local files > browser
Now change the names of the executables in these directories
FOR V3
V3 > AmazingFrog To "AmazingFrog.x86_64" (No quotation marks of course.)
FOR V2 REMASTERED
remastered > AmazingFrog To "AmazingFrog.x86" (64 bit launch will not work with this.)
Had to play V3 on "lowfi" graphical settings to get 30fps on average. Though this is likely due to this games' beyond poor optimization in regards to RAM.
This game is a lot of fun, despite performance issues and bugs on Linux, it just requires some maneuvering.
Pop-in and seeing low res textures for an extended period of time is very common.
Alt+tabbing will make you unable to start missions without having to do a full game restart
Fps will dip below sixty when the game is loading assets.
My launch options are as follows.
PROTON_USE_D11VK=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 gamemoderun %command% -noBlockOnLostFocus -width 1920 -height 1080 -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -availablevidmem 3000 -novblank -noprecache -novsync -no_3GB
I reccomend using this, "definitive edition" game patch as it restores gta iv's old music, fixes some bugs, and generally improves the game.
Almost couldn't tell it wasn't native if you didn't tell me.
Only once at the beginning of my playtime, I got a strange error saying the game was out of cpu cores, which i could not close and forced me to restart the game. Other than that, no issues at all.
As an aside to this, I used ALVR, which may have caused the instability I talked about, but I am unsure. As another note, I used an Oculus/Meta Quest 1, so your milage may vary from headset to headset, but nonethless, I hope it is good, hotdog shooty trip :).
Overall a more than playable experience, great to add another game with outstanding levels of compatibility to the list.
Some lag spikes occurred in my multiplayer matches, not entirely sure but this is likely due to the peer to peer nature of racing transformed, nothing that can be done about it.
This is a compatibility review for the DEMO of Trepang 2, and as of now, it works perfectly, however, proton GE is needed to have the ability to see the videos in game, it's fine without the videos, but is better with them.
