Kill the DXSETUP process if the game/launcher does not start
Could initially only start the game by running the game .exe directly. After a patch this no longer worked. Now if I kill the DXSETUP process I can run the launcher and the game works fine. Updated my nvidia drivers before killing DXSETUP, not sure if that had an influence.
Have not tried it on Windows so cannot compare. Acceptable performance on mid/high (60-ish fps with some drops), at 1440p no FSR. Proton 8.0-3.
Crashes 100% when starting the second campaign map.
Crashes after/during the second campaign map, Vierville, intro. Have tried all kinds of launch options, none have worked so far. The graphics options performance test plays the Vierville cutscenes perfectly.
55fps low, 85fps high at max settings (FidelityFX CAS on, so AA off. Blur/DOF off): 2560x1440.
"PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%" fixed the crackling, out-of-sync audio in dialogues still persists (unknown what the sync is like in native W10).
Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll

Out of sync dialogue, crackling fixed with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command%
Sub 30fps avg. on all settings apart from Ultra (sub 20fps). 2560x1440. Have tried latest normal NVIDIA driver, latest NVIDIA Vulkan Beta driver and latest NVIDIA New Features driver. Have tried Proton 6.3-4 and Experimental (currently using GloriousEggroll instead). Have tried setting performance mode for CPU/GPU. No change to frame rate.
bash -c 'exec "${@/%"PDLauncher/LauncherPatcher.exe"/KSP2_x64.exe}"' -- %command%
Mangohud would cause a crash at campaign load after "[System] Loading Research and Development completed..."
Works fine
Some frames were black, giving a flickering effect.
Turn off "Force Composition Pipeline" in NVIDIA Settings X Server Display Configuration (under "Advanced..."), otherwise the game runs at 10 second per frame.
Fine even /w low fps. DS4 works but no analog triggers.
36fps no matter what (from 2560x1440 32bit high, to 800x600 16bit lowest).
Launches unreliably.
The intro movies were slightly desynced.
Crashes at startup, but not reliably. Tried Proton versions from 3.7-8 and up to 7.0-2. They all crashed on startup often (50% perhaps, noticed no pattern in the end), on both Windowed and Fullscreen. Could never get it started with Boxtron.
Skipping the title movie (Bethesda, Daggerfall) usually leads to a black screen.
My tests so far only include starting a new game and turning around in the tutorial cavern.
Unreliable to launch, some crash/freeze-inducing pitfalls
Intro movies out of sync, audio crackling/hitching slightly in game.
Sometimes (I think when I was swapping Proton versions) saved games were gone.
Crash on startup, 50% of the times (all standard Protons tested, 3.7-8 to 7.0-2). Could never launch with Boxtron. Freeze on black screen if the title movie is skipped. 100% crash on trying to bind some keys, for ex "<" (crashed with error 114 and leads to a Bethesda crash handler screen).
Shift+Tab (the Steam in-game menu) slows the game down to 0fps, solved by pressing the Windows key and refocusing the game. Saving the game locks you out of mouse-view-mode, loading the same game solves that.
Never gets past the loading screen.
Loads as far as the middle of the "L" in "Legends". Have verified game files to no effect. Nethogs shows a tiny amount of traffic on startup and then nothing.
