I installed the game and launched it. An old launcher opens with an error:

I updated the launcher with protontricks 33320 uplay, as others have suggested.
Uplay launches, updates itself to Ubisoft Connect, restarts, then fails with the error:
Unable to download Ubisoft Connect game files
