Initially I tried running with Proton Experimental, and then with Proton 5.13-6; however, the game wouldn't start with either of those. Then I switched to Proton 5.0-10, and the game ran without issue (and no modifications needed).

For mod support, open winecfg using protontricks, and add a DLL override for dinput8 ('native', 'builtin').
I had to enable the steam overlay in order to use my PS5 controller.
The latest Proton-GE edition was required in order to play the story mode (otherwise there was just a black screen).
My connection with other players is frequently poor, but not always. I think this is simply due to the company's servers (or my and the other player's distance from each other), as I've had the same problem when playing in Windows.
As long as you're using the latest version of Proton-GE, the game should work as good as on Windows. Otherwise, you'll just miss out on the story mode.
The launch option I used is not necessary, I'm simply using it because I have a newer Nvidia card.
