Install both d3dcompiler_47 and vcrun2022 if you want to use mods. No need to install both if you want to play completely vanilla (without any mods at all)
The GUI can be hard to make out at times, as well as NPC dialog
Steamdeck isn't exactly the most powerful device. Game mostly runs at a steady 30fps, but some areas have slowdown.
Using the Steamdeck default preset without any tweaking on the OLED and just turning on HDRscRGB, and changing maximum brightness to 1000 instead of the default. YMMV for HDR, you might prefer the SDR appearance.
Game constantly swaps between 90FPS and 15FPS in battles or cutscenes.
EAC not supported in Linux.
The game's constant fluctuating of frame rates makes it unplayable. If the only thing that was missing would be multiplayer, the game would be acceptable. But considering during battles that the frame rate fluctuates so wildly, it's not enjoyable at all. It was a stuggle to get through the first tutorial mission, so unless Bandai adds proper support for this, stick to Windows to play Xenoverse 2.
Used a program to set up the graphics to look decent and makes the game run smoothly https://www.nexusmods.com/hogwartslegacy/mods/1805
When using the Ascendio Portable program, first run the game to set up the proton prefix. Then load up the program in desktop mode. You only need to run it once, unless the prefix is deleted. Game will run more smooth than vanilla and runs decently using the mod.
Used remote play together. Other user didn't experience slowdown.
Game will show the test pattern for videos... until the shader cache downloads from Valve. Then all gameplay required cutscenes will play without issue, including sounds. Only the arcade tutorial cutscenes 3 and 4 will keep the 'test pattern'.
Game requires mouse controls to use the launcher also for initial setup
You need to set up gamepad mode in the game itself, and to also make gamepad mode be used for the title screen. A keyboard would be really useful for initial setup, but the built-in keyboard is enough. Using the steam button and the right trackpad is enough to use the mouse to click on the install and launch buttons.
The game launcher supports gamepad input now, so the mouse is not needed once gamepad controls are set in the game itself for both gameplay and also the character select screen. Do close the launcher once the game launches for a performance boost in the Steam menu.

Black boxes during musou attacks
Grabbed the Warriors Orochi 3 fix from https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2924-fixed-the-problem-of-warriors-orochi-3-ultimate-ma-chao-musou-causing-the-enemy-to-go-black/ since the OLED, even setting the refresh rate to 60 doesn't fix the black musou artifacts. Other than that, game runs perfectly.
Required to turn Fullscreen off in Desktop mode, otherwise game is invisible in gaming mode.
