It just works
Sometimes two instances of the game will start from the launcher when the resume button is clicked. Weirdly, this does not impact performance.
Runs as well as you could hope
Occasional stuttering
Given the game's history of performance issues - I can't tell if the instability I've experienced is due to Proton or the game engine.
Repeated inputs when using classic controls
Game is significantly broken to the point that I got very little actual playtime in, mostly just dealing with slow menus and cutscenes.
Launch with Easy AntiCheat disabled when prompted (disables online interactivity)
Long loading times, lack of responsiveness in menus and interactions, very long click-to-action time in some scenes.
Mostly whilst downloading game content
Not recommended without more significant tinkering or a fix from Microsoft.
Significant improvements have been made
The game runs now, and if all you want to do is play the older campaigns, it'll do that just great. Halo 4 has stability issues, though, and multiplayer is still out of the question.
So close, yet so far
Audio playing noteably out of sync with what's going on on-screen.
Significant framerate issues, particularly in cutscenes
You can fight the machines well, combat gameplay is almost unaffected except for framerate instability, but that's about it.
Was able to play beautifully not only on a desktop, but also an Atari VCS running Holo ISO, using the included controller.
Demo version seems to run fine, though exiting the game sometimes just doesn't work.
Framerate instability
Game hangs on pressing the exit button
It's worth noting that I only played the demo version of the game.
Always crashes on respawn when playing in the "Top Dog" gamemode. May crash in other game modes as well, however it's inconsistent.
