I tend to always use Proton GE, but I think that it will run with the default Proton used by Steam, so, no need to tinkering whit that.
I ran this game to test if Linux would recognize my logitech Force 3D Pro, and for my surprise it worked just fine, no tinkering needed.
The only noticed difference between Proton vs windows versions is that, on linux, the loading times is slightly higher.

Black screen followed by "Texture not found" error message.
Very straightforward, installed, changed to last version of proton GE and played some missions without any problem.
Yes, If I had initially installed in the default Steam folder, the game would run out of the box.
It only worked on the default Steam library, installing on my additional ext4 library didn't run.
Initial slowdowns for a few of seconds, after that, the game runs great.
For me, the game runs on the default audio output, I was using a headset, but the sound came from my speakers.
Works out of the box, steam overlay makes the game crash...
It works in full screen, but sometimes the Pop OS application and date bar is visible.
Just make sure to enable steamplay and you're good to go. I din't noticed any performance, graphical, input or sound issue.
Performance issues make impossible to play
Constant low framerate 10~15 fps
I tried various Proton versions, including GE variants, none of those were able to solve the issue.
It runs great out of the box, minimal text glitch on the main menu. Vibration is a little messy.
Minor menu glitches, sometimes menu options are stack together, hovering the mouse over the text will fix the problem.
I've a wireless xbox 360 pad, it works great, but for some reason it only reset vibration at start of a race, it continues vibrating after a race, even through the menu.
