Recommend Native version for multiple monitors. No noticeable performance difference between Native and Proton ---
gamemoderun %command%
- Rare texture flashes - likely due to Night Color interactions
- Changing MSAA settings will blank character textures until restart (fine afterwards)
- Cursor size is very different between versions for some reason - Proton is small, Native is large
If you want to change the monitor the game runs on:
- Go to Settings -> Graphics -> Display
- Change only the display option to the monitor you want - don't touch anything else
- Hit Apply, and when the dialog for restarting the game pops up, hit Cancel
- Manually exit the game
- Now you can open up the game and set the other options
Proton only issue: Game will not respect windowed fullscreen, and will minimize on focus loss.
Saves get slow, and likely to crash when used in tandem with gamemoderun
Fix: don't use gamemoderun
, this turns off some cpu optimizations, but will ensure the game does not crash.
Tested on:
- GE-Proton 8.20+ and Native
- Wayland only
Both versions run perfectly well into Act 2 with kingdom management.
Native is the default downloaded version assuming you did not force compatibility for all other games in settings.
Works perfectly out of the box, mods functional as well.
Setting the game to run on a specific monitor requires some divine intervention.
For Proton version only: the game will always minimize instead of refocus whether the game is set to full screen or not.
Tested with the following setups:
- GE-Proton 8.20+
- Native
- with and without
gamemoderun
Issues found with Proton:
- Always minimizes instead of refocus
Issues found with Native:
- switching between monitors very difficult
Issues found with gamemode
:
- Lots of crashing when autosaving, I've narrowed it down to some weird interactions with Steam's achievement popups
Works great with both default Proton and GE-Proton
