Run smooth even on low specs pc or laptop
Runs great
Works great on Manjaro and Debian 12.

Alt+Tabbing breaks textures. Saved games lag the load menu.
Highly recommend running Unity Mod Manager with Mono (from Nexus Mods) and install mods that decrease save game bloat to help with loading times. For example; "Cleaner" and "NoHistory". This really makes a big difference over the course of a playthrough. Also suggest periodically pruning old saved games, as the loading menu will lag with too many entries.
Runs perfectly out of the box with default Proton

Runs great apart from occassional crashing after random encounters.
Issue with GNOME caused a grey bar at the top. Opening up the GNOME settings, Keyboard, View and Customise Shortcuts, adding a custom shortcut for "Toggle fullscreen mode" allows you to do a toggle to remove the bar.
Ocassional crash when exiting random encounters. Not found a fix yet.

Works perfectly out of the box, mods functional as well.
Setting the game to run on a specific monitor requires some divine intervention.
For Proton version only: the game will always minimize instead of refocus whether the game is set to full screen or not.
Tested with the following setups:
- GE-Proton 8.20+
- Native
- with and without
gamemoderun
Issues found with Proton:
- Always minimizes instead of refocus
Issues found with Native:
- switching between monitors very difficult
Issues found with gamemode
:
- Lots of crashing when autosaving, I've narrowed it down to some weird interactions with Steam's achievement popups

Recommend Native version for multiple monitors. No noticeable performance difference between Native and Proton ---
gamemoderun %command%
- Rare texture flashes - likely due to Night Color interactions
- Changing MSAA settings will blank character textures until restart (fine afterwards)
- Cursor size is very different between versions for some reason - Proton is small, Native is large
If you want to change the monitor the game runs on:
- Go to Settings -> Graphics -> Display
- Change only the display option to the monitor you want - don't touch anything else
- Hit Apply, and when the dialog for restarting the game pops up, hit Cancel
- Manually exit the game
- Now you can open up the game and set the other options
Proton only issue: Game will not respect windowed fullscreen, and will minimize on focus loss.
Saves get slow, and likely to crash when used in tandem with gamemoderun
Fix: don't use gamemoderun
, this turns off some cpu optimizations, but will ensure the game does not crash.
Tested on:
- GE-Proton 8.20+ and Native
- Wayland only
Both versions run perfectly well into Act 2 with kingdom management.
Native is the default downloaded version assuming you did not force compatibility for all other games in settings.

Native has some weird glitches (like "character is immune to their own feat" messages). Proton has none of those, and >=parity performance.
-force-d3d9
The game was unstable to the point of progression-blocking (requiring loading of older saves and continuing from there), both on the native version and Windows one under Proton. Error logs pointed to a shader-related problem and problem not being Linux-specific, -force-d3d9 with Proton version thus far appears to have resolved that issue.
If you are experiencing crashes seemingly by random, try -force-d3d9 command line argument, which appears to have solved the issue for me. Doesn't appear to be Linux-specific issue.

mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Have crashed at least once when leaving a random encounter map, had to repeat a quick fight.
Works fine in its naiveversion

Runs out of the box with Proton.
On borderless fullscreen I got a black screen when returning from Alt-Tab. True fullscreen has no issues when Alt-Tab to desktop.
Runs better with Proton than with native version.
Cap at 40fps, TPD at 9
Controller UI will not load properly in native Linux version during Kingdom Management, making it impossible to continue. The only work around is to switch to a Windows version and use Proton.
Great, just don't alt-tab out by accident, sigh
Alt-tabbing out leads to an unrecoverable black window; app must then be force-quit
Some areas became slideshows
native - 100% perfect
Running the game right out of the install will work properly until Kingdom management occurs in Act 2. Game will pause with no input from controller. Run it with GE-Proton compatibility to allow kingdom management. I did encounter load times to be a bit longer when this was enabled though.
the text is a bit dense for my eyes. Thank God the Steam Deck has a larger window that other alternative like the iPhone!
Runs very well on Steam Deck out of the box. I've only got 2 1/2 hours in on this device, but it's very solid performance, with no bugs noted.
Game will slow down sometimes even when locked on 45fps, might be better with lower settings.
Played the game for around 10 hours with no problems and no tinkering.
No issues for me, ran perfectly
On native I could not increase resolution beyond 1920x1440, switched to proton and it runs perfectly at 3120x1307 (not 3440x1440 my monitor supports)

Works out of the box on Steam deck with no issues even with EPIC launcher
Native build works perfectly out of the box, no need for Proton
When I switch from Native to Proton 6.3 compatibility, I gained roughly 20-40 fps -- depending on scene/actions. Your mileage may very.
Volume is noticeably lower system-wide even after double checking volume settings. Otherwise, sound quality is fine.
Using Super+D is probably better alternative than alt-tab to switch from fullscreen to desktop. Have to try a few times but it eventually gets right.
Works with Proton, but there's no need as the native Linux game works just fine with more recent patches.

Runs perfect with proton
First i played the game native on Linux, but i had black screen and texture bugs... With Proton was everything fine.

Encountered no other issue than the one stated.
Every key pressed would get doubled, making it impossible to properly write names for your characters. (example: "Aalleexx")
the windows version runs better then the native! Works with mod too

Played this game to completion with proton 4.11. Worked fine for the most part, though occasionally I would get an error that said "GetThreadContext failed" at which point the game would either crash or stop responding to keyboard and mouse inputs and I would need to kill it. A cursory google search suggested it might be a game engine issue rather than a wine / proton problem, and in any event it was rare enough not to hamper the experience any.

Game runs very smoothly. Sometimes characters won't load and they appear to be "black" textured. But I think it is more likely problem with Unity engine than game itself.
