Tinker Steps:Switch to older version: 8.0-1, Set launch options

I had the same issue with the intro movie getting stuck (even though I heard audio). Wasn't able to reach the main menu and start playing.
What worked for me, after reading the other comments, was the launch option:
gamemoderun %command%
I also switched to Proton 8.0.
