Honestly the Proton-run version is better than the "Native" version here. Browsing for files is much simpler, not locked down to a bunch of Linux folders that would never have music in them and able to browse easily to my mounted NTFS drive containing my music. Play is much smoother than the native version as well, where I had experienced some lag with the mouse, that is not present under Proton.
The only other thing is that while the Proton version will display wma files (the native version does not) it will not generate a track for them still. mp3 files are still perfectly fine.
