Probably works with tweaks but requires more than stated 6 GB minimum RAM
I managed to get the game to run with GloriousEggroll and the launch flags suggested here, but even on the lowest settings my 8 GB of RAM (and 2 GB of swap) were not enough to get me past the Marcus intro without my computer slowing to less than a crawl and Steam eventually crashing.
(Without the flags, the "optimizing shaders" process would render my PC inoperable before I ever got to the main menu.)

Windowed mode gives worse performance
The latest GE takes care of the "watch monitor" issue and plays startup movies and other videos. Good performance with GameMode on DX 11 full screen. No crash, no issue with multiplayer, DS4 controller works perfectly (but needs to be connected before game launch). About 60 FPS on medium settings with my setup.
Runs out of the box. Multiplayer not tested. No crash or issue after 2 hours. Low framerate in some maps but I've heard the same from Windows players. DS4 picked up immediately.
Terrible performance in most maps on minimum settings, but runs out of the box. AFAIK it's a similar story on Windows. Only played single player. DS4 picked up without issue.
First session froze while in the settings, but second session ran fine through a full AI match. Nothing else tested so far.
No longer launching after update.
Steam downloaded a 55-MB update today and the game no longer launches. No time for troubleshooting at the moment.
Usually hangs upon exiting when played in Big Picture mode. No issues during play. Multiplayer not tested since EA shut the servers down. Picks up the Dualshock 4 nicely (showing XBOX controls).
Ran through chapter 1 without issue, using a DS4 controller with custom bindings to make movement less annoying.
Weird alt-tabbing behaviour regarding window focus, and for some reason Escape minimizes the window (while in fullscreen) instead of opening a menu. Nothing major, though.
