I was unable to launch the game without Steam's provided Proton versions, but GE fixed it easily.

Using Proton Experimental doesn't work with online mode. 5.13-6 works.
Using Proton Experimental, the loading screen never went away, since the game was loading. Workaround is to disable auto login from game options or use 5.13-6 Proton. 6.3-6 didn't work, was unable to launch the game.
