Batman: Arkham Knight is commpletely playable all throughout, but with slight graphical performance issues when played on Fedora 39.
Given my current OS and hardware configuration, I took note of a slight graphical slowdown from within the games PC Performance Test and within the actual game itself. As a result, this graphical performance issue causes character voices, their lips and actions to become out-of-sync and remain on-screen for longer than they should; Oracle's (Barbara Gordon-Drake) conversations with Batman is a perfect prime example of this. Otherwise, the game is completely playable all throughout.
Game starts to a blackened launcher. Manual launch of BlackDesertEAC.exe with WINE on Konsole causes "CreateDevice" failure!
I first tried the default Proton 8.0-3 before retrying with GE Proton8-14 with no such luck. Then I tried using "Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime" with this game, but nothing but a blackened launcher. I tried installing d3dcompiler_42.dll using Protontricks, still nothing! I then tried manally launching "wine BlackDesertEAC.exe" from Konsole, but all I got was a CreateDevice error. All this leads me to believe the underlying problem with Black Desert Online's refusal to even start has to do with it's Easy Anti-Cheat integration among other possible factors!
Completely playable with Proton 8.0-4. Only flaw is DCUO Game Configuration which causes Microsoft .NET to report "unhandled excption".
PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
If DC Universe Online is fullscreen, the game tends to lockup when app switching. However, no lockup occurs if the game is windowed while app switching. Other than this, DCUO remains very stable.
If "Game Configuration" is launched from within the DCUO LaunchPad, Microsoft .Net Framework reports of an unhandled exception within DCUO Game Configuration. If I choose Continue, while I'm able to select the various different controls that makes up DCUO Game Configuration, all the controls are blank; however, if I tell Microsoft .NET Framework crash dialog to Quit, then the DCUO Game Configuration just gracefully quits without crashing.
This Microsoft .NET Framework "Unhandled eception bug" only effects DCUO Game Configuration and does not effect DCUO in any way and still does allow me to start the game when I select "Play".
Minor cracking sounds in menu doesn't degrade performance
Even though there's crackling sounds, it's very minor and only appears in the games menu. Other than that, DOOM runs and plays absolutely flawlessly right out of the box with absolutely no tinkering, better in fact. On Windows 10, DOOM refused to be playable on Vulkan and had to be set to Medium, whereas DOOM plays smooth on High at Vulkan when on Kubunu 22.04.3 LTS with Proton 8.0-3. DOOM also doesn't crash nor have I seen any lockups or graphical glitches during app switching. DOOM also closes as expected with no errors on my laptop.
Screensaver prevented screen wakeup. Fix is Protontricks >> Doom Eternal: 782330 >> default wineprefix >> Regedit and set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop\ScreenSaveActive to 0.
Minor sound crackling, but hardly noticable. Read a fix for this is sed -i -e 's/; default-sample-rate = 44100/default-sample-rate = 48000/g'.
App switchig causes minor slowdowns in graphical performance.
Other than the montioned minor problems above, Doom Eternal required the latest version of the Intel® Graphics DCH BETA Driver to even start and even then, I always recieved a message warning me of an incompatiblity issue with my laptops specific CPU/iGPU setup while on native Windows. However, I've found Doom Eternal starts just a little faster than on native Windows, but the FPS is a little slow due to my hardware limits, but is considered to be completely playable otherwise on Kubuntu 22.04.3 LTS with Proton 8.0-3.
Rise of Eros frequently crashes after mere minutes of gameplay, epsecially during cutscene movies and character summons
In "Rise of Eros: 2346550", I ran winecfg to add RiseOfEros.exe and UnityCrashHandler64.exe and set them to "Windows Version: Windows 10". I next tried checking win10 in under "Change settings". Rise of Eros is playable for a few minutes, then just locks up, and so does it's crash handler (UnityCrashHandler64.exe) especially during cutscene videos and character summons which forces me to shutdown the game through Steam.
On a side note, I did try Steam Launch options "PROTON_NO_ESYNC PROTON_NO_FSYNC %command%" before trying "PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE %command%". Both times, Rise of Eros refused to even start at all. It wasn't until I removed all launch commands did the game start. However, the game crashes just a few minutes after gameplay, especially during cutscene movies and character summons.
Installed d3dcompiler_47.dll through Protontricks (Star Trek Online prefix 9900) to fix blackened launcher. Launch option --disable-gpu isn't required as a resault.
Being a multiplayer-only game, STO runs and plays extremely well, even better in fact than natively on Windows without any crashes, lockups or hangs whatsoever when run on Kubuntu 20.04 and Proton 8.0-3.
This of course was after installing d3dcompiler_47.dll through Protontricks 1.10.4 from Flathub to resolve a blackened game launcher.
In order to fix STO's blacked-out launcher, Proton 8.0-3 must be under Steams Compbitability option and d3dcompiler_47.dll must be installed with Protontricks 1.10.4 from Flathub. Alternately, other players reported the launcher option "--disable-gpu" may be used as a viable fix.
