Works perfectly out of the box, but I am using the multiplayer beta, which normally increases perfomance on Windows as well. Runs at 60fps on 1080p fullscreen. Haven't tested multiplayer, but it should work. Also haven't tried the regular non-beta version, but if the beta patch increases performance on Windows and adds multiplayer, then there isn't any point to playing the normal version.
To enable the beta, just go to the properties of Garfield Kart, select the "Betas" tab and select the "multi_test" beta. When launching the game, the bottom option to "Play Garfield Kart" should usually be the MP version.
Runs well, some bugs, but in general a good experience.
Alt-Tabbing crashes the game
Some levels crash the game when trying to pause
Do use the Multiplayer beta, I think regular stable doesn't work, select the second option when asked after pressing play for MP beta, also better performance on the beta
Works great, no major issues at all
A couple of places are missing lighting but nothing big
If Alt-Enter makes the game window smaller, you can set resolution back with launch options "-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080"
Everything worked right away exept Online, where I had to add "WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command%" into the launch options. Game runs at a poor framerate of 30-35fps average and sometimes hits 50-60fps on default settings, when normally on Windows it would run 60fps on most things set to high.
Works well with GloriousEggroll Proton, slight performance hits compared to Windows, no problems with Online
Using Proton-5.8-GE-1-MF fixed the game not closing properly, didn't need it to fix R*Launcher which worked on default Proton no problems already.
Compared to Windows 10, there is a performance hit, on max settings went from ~60 fps to ~40. Lowering stuff like MSAA, Post-FX and Grass Quality helped to get to around 100 fps, not dipping below 60.
Can't install Rockstar Launcher anymore
Booted the game next day after playing, R* Launcher updated and booting the game every time I got logged out from R* Social Club. Tried to reinstall but now R* Launcher won't install at all, stuck on "Preparing to install..."
Using Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF, wasn't able to install R* Launcher with it, but using Proton 5.0-7 worked for installing, then after install I switched over to GE.
Missing mouse cursor after Alt-Tabbing once in Social Club overlay
Had to reinstall the game or rather delete the compatdata folder for the game because after a R* Launcher update I was constantly logged out from Social Club, basically gameplay is same as my previous report
Shows KFC and Psyop logos and stays on a white screen, won't start
Runs perfectly, even at high refresh rates
Thank you Nick Robinson and the tons of bits team for reviving this classic!
I guess it works, but crashes and bugs beware (Early Access)
Crashed in the middle of a match with "Fatal error!"
Seemed like going back to main menu made the UI dissapear, had to restart the game
Did not expect for EAC to work but it did, although it displays at launch "Failed to create IGameClient instance" and "Online Play may not be available." Will play for longer and add more reports
