WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xinput9_1_0=n,b" %command%
The launch options are only there to be able to use the Geode modloader, here's a quick guide on how to do that:
- Run the Windows installer with protontricks or manually grab the zip file with all the DLLs and extract it to the game directory, along with adding resources to the Resources folder
- Add "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xinput9_1_0=n,b" %command%" to the launch options
- Congrats! Geode should be working perfectly.
When using fullscreen, the screen was black, although game audio played normally. The system hung after trying to switch applications.
It seems as if the game can only run on distros based off Ubuntu, as when trying to use Fedora all the game did was throw errors about shaders and stop working.
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
Fullscreen starts off black, fixable if you wait until you hear the menu music and Alt-Tab in and out of the game a few times until you see the UI. Works fine after doing this.
I figured it out. AMD and Intel users are out of luck in this situation. Forcing the game to run on an NVIDIA GPU gets rid of all the shader compilation errors, making the game run like a charm. I'm not exactly sure if it's possible to run on any other GPUs with tinkering, so I won't be able to provide much info on that. Maybe forcing D3D?
Hooh, okay. Native is... weird? DLC is simply not available, videos play at very high speeds and snow themed levels lack particles. I've also heard people complaining about audio issues, but I experienced none. Changing to Proton fixed all of these, however I'm pretty sure the game needs to be running on an NVIDIA GPU to be properly playable with the Windows version. Else, you'll experience crashes during snow levels.

Played a few matches with friends that were running the game on Windows, everything worked perfectly fine. The host also had the full version and we played on other maps and gamemodes, all worked good
The launch options are solely to make the game run on my NVIDIA GPU. Should work fine without it.
Used a PowerA Wireless Switch Pro Controller and Xbox 360 Controller with the Wireless Adapter. Worked perfectly out of the box, no need to tweak anything at all.
I saw people having issues with videos and cutscenes, however everything ran fine out of the box. No crashes, errors or slowdowns either; it was perfectly playable.
SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 prime-run %command%
The game simply wouldn't start on native nor on Proton. After looking around for a bit and checking the game logs (/home/youruser/.local/share/Metanet/N++/NPPlog.txt) I noticed it was a windowing system issue.
The native version is a little old and won't run on newer versions of the Steam Linux Runtime, so you'll need to force 1.0. It also doesn't seem to run on Wayland, so you'll need to force X11 with SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 %command%
on the launch properties and use XWayland. After that, game runs perfectly.
I'm only using Proton 8 as Overcooked! 2 (the standalone version, not the campaign included in this game) crashes on newer versions of Proton, so I just chose to use caution. Seems to work on newer versions though.
Multiplayer worked perfectly out of the box, zero issues
Runs perfectly out of the box
Note: This game has a few puzzles which involve actually moving files inside your computer.
You should be able to find the root of your Proton Prefix for this game at /home/youruser/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1734250/pfx/drive_c
. After that it's just structured like a regular Windows drive.
Native gave me some artifacts after messing a little with the resolution, but works fine if you don't mess with it. Proton fixes this.
Runs great on Linux, both Proton and Native work perfectly.
