Solution 1: Installed native version of Steam instead of Flatpak Solution 2: Disabled "Fractional scaling" and set NVIDIA resolution to "Auto"
Most Steam games wouldn't run, or crashed/froze on startup - including Halo Infinite. Thought the proprietary NVIDIA driver was the problem since Halo would run a little bit in nouveau before crashing.
Native Linux games were also not working on desktop, even though my old laptop runs them just fine on the same distro and packages. I remembered that my laptop had Steam native installed. So I uninstalled the Flatpak and installed Steam natively, after which several games started working - kind of. Fullscreen games would still freeze, probably because of the settings for my 4k monitor. Halo would still not work, even with various versions of Proton (GE 8, 9, Experimental).
Found out by accident that disabling fractional scaling in Cinnamon fixed the issue. Halo runs perfectly, albeit at lower fps (around 100fps in Linux vs 143fps in Windows).
Failure to run on Steam Flatpak, and with fractional scaling enabled.
Game plays normally, but have about 25% lower fps compared to Windows 11.
Jackbox 7 would launch, and immediately change my desktop resolution to 100% (it is normally at 200%). Thereby messing up my icons and such. I've had games not launch due to my resolution, but this is the first time the game changes my desktop settings. I don't like it. Jackbox 8 did not have this issue.
Solved the problem by going into game settings and choose "Windowed" mode.
