As compatible with Linux as it is with Windows; overall good
This issue occurs on Windows as well.
Frequent partner disconnects and initial connection issues; these persist on Windows as well.
The game is held together with duct tape in places and connection issues are frequent, but it's perfectly functional otherwise. All issues I've encountered on Linux persist from my Windows install; no additional problems encountered.
Game works completely fine assuming you're using vulkan-radeon; compiling shaders on each launch is a little slow, but not aggravating.
Strange issues with shading on faces with amdvlk; switch to vulkan-radeon to fix.
Worse performance than native (roughly 40-60fps average rather than 120+fps on Windows with same machine), but not by any means unplayable (and alleviated by graphics fiddling.)
Game works near-perfectly out of the box, minor audio desync during some cutscenes solved with launch option
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %command%
As mentioned, certain cutscenes have gradual audio desync; some don't, and gameplay is completely unaffected regardless. Great compatibility.
PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
Occasional slowdown during effects-heavy raid fights; unsure if different between Windows and Linux, as slowdown is common on Windows as well
Game will launch to black screen on first boot; you have to hunt for a button with your mouse or just press enter to get past this screen. Furthermore, the game will refuse to complete install without the launch options set. Once you've done this, though, the game works like a charm.
