Crashes on startup
Also tried the Proton-5.6-GE-2 patch/version and although it does pretty much the same thing except a windows opens up about Black Ops 3 crashing.
No improvements, steam says the game is running and silently crashes.
This was on Proton 5.17 TKG
Works great with some problems!
When you first load a level it is really laggy, but it goes away over time.
You have to rename the video folder in order for the game to work. This will make all the cutscenes/videos not work.
Proton 5.22-GE-1 was used
The game opens and you can see a loading screen. Then it goes black.
Basically the game would open and I could see the loading screen, but after a few seconds the loading screen goes black and the game doesn't do anything else.
Tried forcing the game into windowed mode through the config and also moving the intro movies to see if they wouldn't play for some reason. Doing this didn't change anything for me.

Game works without issue on Proton-5.9-GE-2-MF.
Works great even though it's a Denuvo title
Game worked great on Proton Experimental, only experienced one crash when changing levels. But when I started to do multiplayer I got very frequent crashes. Switching to the latest Proton GE fixed multiplayer stability issues for me
Without using WINED3D I would get an unplayable framerate. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Over time, the water may turn into a black void or when you're holding a fish the water kind of explodes/raises to the sky.
Using WineD3D causes strange graphical artifacts that appear after loading a level. (black boxes that take over the screen) I fix this by loading the level, exiting the to map, changing the graphics settings, and trying to load the level again. Just keep trying this till you don't get black boxes. For reference I switch between low and medium graphics settings.
Window opens but never loads, black screen
I even tried removing the video files to see if it would work and I was able to get an image of what may be the background of the main menu, but I could not play.
You can see the game's launcher, but when the main game window appears it is just a black screen.
I had tried this on an earlier proton version (4.2-9) which crashes instantly. I also tried it on proton TKG (5.17) which had the same results as using out of the box steam play.
Works almost flawlessly
Some condos like the house have very poor performance in some areas.
The media player now works perfectly and aside from some bugs with the house condo the game is pretty much only as buggy as it is on windows.
