Game itself runs excellently once the required commands have been issues. This should be less of an issue with newer GE forks though as the commands were going to be done automatically for you.
Just be mindful when loading a lot of mods as your initial load time when starting the game can become quite high (subsequent saves/loads are normal).
Runs well enough with a small performance hit. Ingame preview videos will cause a CTD if used.
Proton-5.1-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Mild Stuttering, but not gamebreaking. Opening cutscene audio and video went about 2 seconds out of sync.
Game will crash if attempting to view weapon preview videos.
Definitely use the latest Glorious Eggroll Proton release as it has some specific Monster Hunter: World fixes. As of right now that is Proton-5.1-GE-1.
Game has some slight stuttering that would likely be fixed by lowering some graphical settings. Will need to tweak.
As mentioned, audio became out of sync with video during the opening. Words were spoken then shortly after the animations played. This could be due to the stuttering.
On a positive, my controller did not drop out all in about 90 minutes of playtime unlike some others have noted. I used a Wii U Pro Controller via bluetooth.
Currently running stable out of the box, high performance
Just using 5.0.6, the game was very stable. Didn't notice stuttering like I occasionally would before. Performance appears very good with the current Proton version.
At least on Arch with Kernel 5.6.3 I did not need to set Kernel launch options like the other review (for Ryzen 3xxx series).
Weapon tutorial videos are still not going to playable of course, though GE has been making strides to bringing an mfplat solution to Proton so that may change in the future.
I am using the following launch options: %command% --waitforpreload --nodx9ex -gc 1 --nologo
Using the following Proton fork: Proton-4.21-GE-2
Full disclosure: I am using waitforpreload virtually for free as I have PoE installed on an NVME. It takes maybe an extra second to launch, and the loading screens feel unaffected.
Towns have some stutter when you first enter, due to shader compilation I presume but that is over very quick.
Beyond that, performance feels extremely smooth and I do not get lag interacting with league content or anything else really.
5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll

Before the current league, performance was good enough with Proton. During this last league though, performance has been all over the place and I have had to experiment with all sorts of commands and proton versions.
Up until this version I was still having major fps drops when triggering Delirium fog or having new effects loaded.
That is completely gone now, with no need for launch commands. As of the time of writing this, I see no Frame Time increases or FPS drops during any of the ingame events I have tested - With the current GE fork at any rate. Mileage may vary by hardware, but this would have been an amazing league if we had advanced to this point just a little bit sooner.
Looking forward to the next league (assuming performance stays like this)!

Running with Glorious Eggroll's custom Proton fork: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/4.21-GE-2
No visual artifacting or extra input latency. Game runs the same if not better than my previous Windows install. Steam/Proton even read my GOG saves without issue once I copied them over.
Occasional horizontal lines through textures - Only when zoomed out (game is modded).
Game works very well. I have installed Ultimate Apocalypse and some other mods.
To get mod installers to run, copy the .exe's into the root directory of Soulstorm. Rename Soulstorm.exe to Soulstorm.exe.bak.
Next, rename the required installer to Soulstorm.exe (for example, the UA installer) then run the game through steam. This will launch the installer instead for you. Leave it's installation directory alone. Once installed you can delete the installer's executable.
Do this for each installer, renaming them to Soulstorm.exe and running the game through steam until you are done.
Once everything is installed, just rename Soulstorm.exe.bak back to Soulstorm. Remember to use the Game Manager from the main menu to activate your mod.
