There are a lot of additional commands to get custom audio and eax working. proton ships 64 bit so you can't use winamp for the wma audio so I used lutris.
install lib32-libpulse with pacman
High quality audio and bonus content:
Intall wmp10 WINEPREFIX=~/Games/guild-wars/ winetricks -q wmp10
Test the audio(its buggy double click doesnt work, press play pause a few times to confirm audio plays) WINEPREFIX=~/Games/guild-wars/ wine "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"
WINEPREFIX=~/Games/guild-wars/ wine start /d "C:\DirectSong" "C:\DirectSong\RegisterDirectSongDirectory.exe"
For EAX:
on newer version of windows its /AppData/Roaming/openal for the hrtf_defs and presets added dsound to the winecfg from within lutris. native,builtin on add no edit needed
protonfixes is needed because with proton 8.0 it doesn't install c++ library (microsoft redist). Installed via AUR and in the proton 8.0 folder you copy conf file and add import protonfixes at the bottom. For more information see the github for proton fixes.
It won't work without protonfixes on proton 8.0. You will get a c++ error.
There is a bug with the latest steam client. Disable the overlay or you will get a black screen before the menu on start. https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3291
Native wouldn't hide XFCE taskbar. Proton fixes this.
set TFix and HD Mod .exe to executable. Run and point it to your thief gold directory. Make sure to turn on opanal with EAX. Game runs perfectly. It doesn't run without TFix.
doesn't work without TFix but its very easy to install
