Will be a little rough at first, but smooth sailing after that. Try without launch options first, as they might prevent it from starting.
Main menu music is occasionally crackly or stuttery, but so far only in the main menu and only occasionally. Sometimes it just goes away on it's own.
The first time you load into a map, expect a lot of slowdown and outright freezing while it sets up the shader cache. It will do that occasionally as you traverse a map, but after a couple of matches in a map it will run pretty much flawlessly from then on even between system reboots.
I recommend solo dropping into a quiet part of the map and just trying to travel around as much as possible for a couple of rounds before you try to play in earnest when you first install it and it won't bother you ever again, you only need to do it once per map when you first install the game.
Connection to server is fine now, had no trouble matchmaking. Once you do a couple test matches to build the shader cache it rarely affects online gameplay and most of the time after the initial setup it runs almost as good as native.
If you do try to fight through the shader lag though, the game might eat your inputs but that was only a temporary and fleeting problem for the most part. Worst case was dropping out of the server in the very first match played due to shader lag, but that only happened once. You MIGHT not get to select a character manually the first match you play after install because of shader lag but once again, it's temporary.
I'm so glad I finally get to play a full-size BR on Proton, and I'm extremely pleased how well it runs after all is said and done.
Installs and starts just fine, but shortly into the title sequence it crashes with a detailed error message involving vertex shaders.
Absolutely no problems installing, starting, running, or playing the game. No graphical or game-play bugs.
Even my very compromised play experience was still enjoyable enough for me to lose track of time.
Had to reduce my resolution to 720p windowed to get a consistently playable fps. UI scaling doesn't play well with this and minor fluff details might be hidden behind buttons in dialog boxes. May miss out on some dry humor.
During gameplay, FPS hovered between 25 and 30 with frequent dips as low as single digits, especially when many objects are in motion or large chunks are being smelted in the furnace. Explosions turn the game into a slideshow.
The floaty nature of the microgravity makes low framerates particularly punishing, even if you're used to sub-optimal framerates.
My processor is somewhat weaker than system specs, but this is still quite a bit slower than anticipated even considering that. This may simply be because it's in early access and as such it may improve over time with optimization updates, and not necessarily a proton problem.
Game would not actually open, just display as me playing on steam briefly before going away. I attempted to run it both on my system drive (EXT3/EXT4) and on my data drive (NFTS) and it would not run on either drive.
Suddenly now works out of the box perfectly, albeit with a very long time to actually launch. Uncertain what changed between now and the time when it was borked.
Game itself installs and runs fairly well with comparable to native performance. Screen Tearing is pretty pervasive but not particularly severe. Overall fully playable and enjoyable even with a handful of noticeable bugs.
Main issues involve action prompts being a mix of keyboard and controller prompts even when no controller is plugged in, and extremely poor mouse tracking in the iDroid menus, radial menus, and some cutscenes, but in the majority of cases it's only a minor annoyance.
Connects to servers and singleplayer online elements are fully functional, but the connection can be unstable. Most of the time if a connection error occurs, simply trying again will have it work and in
Seems to play matches just fine, with minor hiccups that can be worked around.
When I adjusted graphics settings during a match, framerate cut in half even when I set it back to what it was.
Graphical settings menu doesn't seem to remember previous settings, kept defaulting back to "fantastic" when opened.
Please note my hardware profile when considering potential performance issues or menu bugs. While I technically meet the minimum requirements, it's not too pretty to look at. I can't tell if some of that is a graphical bug or just the low settings though. It would be good if someone with better hardware could follow up on this .
Absolutely no problems starting, running, or playing the game. Plays as good as native.
