Proton 9 works fine out of the box, but needs SteamOS 3.6.21 (currently in Beta) with the needed Mesa RADV fixes.
Can't hold stable 30, but tinkering with the console to settings below what's in the menu (forcing dynamic res to 0.5, decreasing raytracing LOD, lowering texture cache) gets it there.

Update 3 has a bug that prevents the game to launch with RADV
Menu Launches and new game can be started, but somehow I can't click on anything
Borked, menu works but many UI elements (including blocking ones) are not shown or can't be clicked
Borked since Social Club launcher update, need to manually change to proton 8.0 or experimental as 7.0 is set by steam.
Works out of the box with Proton 8.0-4 and SteamOS 3.5
Works after tinkering with dsound.dll workaround and when switching between desktoop and game mode.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dsound=n,b" %command%
Find dsound.dll with md5sum a97542f6c1b3c99e739e6d2a79c1e1a3 and copy in game folder and set WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dsound=n,b" %command% as launch options to get sound everywhere.
Need to start graphic settings launcher when switching between game mode and desktop mode
Defaults to Native/Linux Runtime which is a mediocre OpenGL port. Windows build w/ Proton performance is better but latest build is buggy.
UI cut off when using proton
UI/HUD elements cut off
Most recent windows build is bugged (UI artifacts/cut off text) also on Windows. Downgrading to an earlier Version fixed it for me. Right Click -> Properties -> Betas, then chose "build743.0 - TR Build 1.01.743.0". Runs on Ultra with 45fps.
As on windows, many of the videos (all the longer documentary segments) dont play anymore because the servers were taken offline a while back.
game stutters massively, enabling new graphics pipeline with launch option resolves this. even with proton at default 7.0-6
