Used GE's 7.1 Proton available on github. Using Tool 1161040 (Linux BattlEye Steam Tool) with a small change to py script 440900 to run the BE version of the Sandbox covered by previous posts.

GE-Proton7-24 battleye swich (-BattlEye) in steam's general launch options for the game.
This is a work-around without using steam's linux client! Installed Lutris, downloaded steam for windows setup from steam. Ran steam setup from Lutris using runner lutris-GE-Proton8-25-x86_64, logged in to steam, installed game and started play.

Something is not right here...
This game is wide open and has several windows aim/fishingbots circulating for it. Yet AGS is silent about enabling it for linux. Whats up?

The version of easy anti cheat this game uses crashes modern glibc making it software render. (long load times, extended 0 fps hitches while playing)
Loads can lead to booting back to character select.
This game is in Early Access and is using an older version of easy anti cheat that works in windows but breaks glibc on modern linux installations. (glibc 2.39 as of this post)
