Default plays fine, but for cool effects and higher-resolution graphics switch to Proton 3.7-8 to enable 3D acceleration and more options
Set TDP to 6
Still some crashes, but with this fix you can start a new game w/out issue and videos (cutscenes and sheep tutorials) play correctly!
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 gamemoderun %command%
Run the game once to create a Proton prefix, then use Protontricks to install Media Foundation (mf). Then in Desktop mode open Konsole on the Desktop and enter: wget https://gist.github.com/Neodamode/22871fae8020a87a6cd816ccac405358/raw/83f1c56add0adbcff9d116b2a51a157da7bcc954/mf_catherine.verb
added slight delay between dpad inputs; was difficult to turn in place without moving otherwise
Limited to 10 TDP
In-engine cutscenes are mostly blurred if depth of field is enabled. Disabling it fixes the problem.
Performance in 30s if in-game vsync is enabled. Disabling it, the game runs mostly 55-60 fps except when walking across the length of the Stray Sheep (of all places), where it dips into the 30s-40s.
Crashes occasionally at the end of a stage.
This game (when fixed) has come a long way on Deck; Far from perfect, and the occasional post-boss crash is annoying (waiting for the button prompts to appear on the results screen seems to help there), but it's very playable and runs at a good framerate. Limiting TDP and disabling graphical effects you can get about 2.5-3 hrs. of playtime per Deck charge. Just make sure you're installing the fix to a clean Proton prefix!

Lowered TDP to 5
Changing to fullscreen in the settings does not work properly, creating an unworkable zoomed in layout. Luckily, the game defaults to a 16:9 window that works perfectly.
TDP to 3
launch window very occasionally all black. fixed by restarting the game
After changing the resolution in game to 1280x720, the game works great and there are no issues.
Set resolution to 1280 x 720 fullscreen. Default settings cause graphical errors and seem to lead to crashing.
Lower TDP
Graphics not being properly overlaid on background
Initial settings were not proper fullscren
Crashing seemingly due to resolution mismatch
Lower TDP
Unavoidable unless using Experimental
Changed resolution to 1280x800 in the in-game settings
Lowered TDP to 4 (3 would probably be fine, too)
Default Proton works fine, but I ran into persistent flickering moving between options in the main menu. Proton 4.11-13 fixed that.
changed dpad to control character motion instead of stick
flickering moving between menus on default proton
