Unable to get it running with Proton 7.0.2 I also tried Experimental and Proton-GE as well as GE-proton. None of them worked :(
I can't trace down the issue but the game seems to refuse to launch.
After getting the mf fix working everything seems to be running great. The performance is very similar to running on windows.
To fix the cinematics and the movement freeze after loading into a map you need the MediaFoundation workaround.
Running on Ubuntu
Players running on ubuntu should go to the mf-installcab repository (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-installcab) and follow the instructions. (Execute script and copy file into folder with DDS.exe)
Running on Arch-based distros
This fix does however not seem to work with arch-based distributions (atleast it does not work with Manjaro). Players who cannot get the installcab fix working should try the other mf-install repository (https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install). The setup is even simpler and worked out of the box for me.
I believe chromatic games are working on a proprietary solution. So far it does not appear to affect linux users. Let us hope that won't change in the future
