Make sure to use the newest version of Proton!
The game booted, installed, started, andran perfectly fine with Proton Experimental and the launch options, "RADV_PERFTEST=aco PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1". I was following an older guide, and looking at other posts here, on playing the game in Proton, they said to use Proton-4.2-9, but that was causing those mouse lag issues people here were reporting a year ago. I spent many hours slamming my head into my table trying to change my mouse polling rate on my install of MX Linux(I don't think it's possible), I then decided to try the newest version of Proton to see what would happen, and it worked! The mouse lag was gone, and the game runs just as well as it did before I switched to Linux!
Game installs and run great, there is audio crackling running it in Proton however
Using Proton, the Audio is very crackily, but everything's great otherwise.
The game runs very poorly with the Native Linux version (awful performance, low fps), so I ran it in Proton, and it downloaded, installed, and ran perfectly, the game looks great. There is however some audio issues that could be immersion breaking, every sound clip crackles. "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90" did not fix this. I will continue looking for a solution, but so far I haven't found anything.
There are some very very annoying bugs, but overall, the game runs flawlessly.
All sound clips that play are very crackily, you get used to it after a while though, and you stop noticing it
If you join or start a public lobby, and immediately hover your curser over Pre Planning, the game will crash and freeze, it won't close unless you kill it.
Tabbing out of the game frequently, or using the steam Shift+Tab menu for long enough will cause the game to have extreme input/render lag, moving your mouse will be very slow and unresponsive with a large delay, especially when pressing keys on your keyboard.
After getting back into this game, and putting another hundred hours into it, I've been playing a lot through Proton (used to play on windows), I've found some very annoying bugs, tabbing out of the game anyway often enough or for long periods of time make the game unplayable with render lag, this can be fixed with restarting the game, but that's annoying if you're on day 3 of a difficult heist on the hardest difficulty. There's the audio crackling I mentioned in my last report, but that's no big real issue. The game will also crash if I'm playing online, join or start a lobby, and before everyone and everything loads, hover the mouse cursor over Pre-Planning. Other than these issues, I haven't experienced anything truly game breaking (assuming I don't tab out) and the game runs and looks amazing. Also the Native Linux version runs terribly, make sure to force the latest version of Proton if you're reading this.
Runs flawlessly, I was shocked that it ran so well through Proton
Fullscreen was iffy, didn't work sometimes, but windowed fullscreen works great, also used the latest Proton Experimental
