I found Game Mode to be essential to getting a similar experience as it would run on win.
Be sure to add "gamemoderun %command%" into the game’s launch options. Once gamemode was active the game performed significantly better.
I just used the first Proton version in my list, so GE is likely not required. Heroic 2.4.2 had an HTTP issue (bad address) so that is why some people are saying it doesn't work. Update to 2.4.3 and it'll work fine.
If you skip the native version which is nice to have, but runs poorly, and use the Vulkan Beta instead, it runs amazingly well.

Look up how to switch it over to the Vulkan Beta, and run [gamemoderun %command%] for a little boost. Runs amazingly well.
This is a console port. It is designed specifically for console at the expense of all else. It can't even make full use of PC hardware.
Did two full playthroughs and I don't recall any issues at all. Gamemode is strongly recommended. I will always recommend it. It always helps.

My last time playing on Windows was ages ago so I may mis-remember, but I expected a slightly higher framerate given what the game is.
The multiplayer is terrible in this game, but it works properly, including connecting with the Phone App, which is kind of useful.
"failed to execute default browser" popup
It can't find the default browser on XFCE (not sure why it'd need it - always thought that was a horrible design, to require signin to some publisher's site)
Installed via Heroic, Launched via Heroic and Steam.
Tries and fails to launch.
I have this through Epic, and so I used Heroic Launcher and it runs very well. No issues at all. No issues with any version of Proton.
I listed GE-Proton7-20 but that is just what I'm running it on now. It ran fine on older versions of standard Proton, I just don't keep older versions installed if I don't need them so I am running it on the latest.
