I've played the first two levels so far. Game runs without a hitch. Feels identical to Windows. Controller support works fine, including rumble (PDP XBox One controller)
It worked pretty much flawlessly. The only issues I had were due to the way Steam interacts with Uplay. I couldn't launch it directly from Uplay, and after registering the key, I had two instances of Blood Dragon in my library (one was a Uplay freebie). But once I disabled overlays and notifications in Uplay (as per someone else's recommendation) synced my Steam login to Uplay, and picked the correct Blood Dragon, it launched without a hitch. There are some framerate drops, but that could be because of my system being a bit slow. I remember Far Cry 3 also not running that well, albeit on a much slower CPU.
Seems to work fine after applying "protontricks 214510 d3dx9_41", like others have stated. Note: protontricks needs to be installed first, but the installation instructions on the GitHub page are very easy. Controller and rumble works. Some performance dips in cutscenes, but gameplay seems to be 100% smooth at 60fps with vsync on.
Works perfectly without tweaks on this version (4.2-2), and on the previous version (3.16-8). Playing on generic XBox One controller. Vibration works. Haven't tested online multiplayer. Alt+Tab causes crashes the game. However, this does not affect the normal running of the game, so my Platinum rating stands. 9 hours logged as of this review, and no crashes under normal gameplay conditions.
Works right out of the box. No cloud saves, so I had to copy saves over manually, after some googling. Performance is a solid 60fps on the Ultra preset. It performed worse on Windows, and required tweaking to improve framerate. I have to point out, though, that it runs on an SSD in Linux, and an HDD in Windows, so if there's any major streaming from disk happening, that could account for the poorer performance in Windows. Regardless, I'll be completing the game in Linux.
Single player works straight away in 4.2.2, in 64-bit. Previous version didn't work for me, even when forcing 32-bit. I played a bit with a PDP Xbox One controller. Vibration didn't work, but I don't think that's Proton's fault. Multiplayer not tested.
