Had to edit ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Command & Conquer Generals - Zero Hour/RedistInstallers/Options_Helper'/Options.ini for my 2K monitor, worked well after that.
Had to click the splash screen or it would hang at the splash screen.
Did not test playability over LAN yet using ZeroTier or Hamachi.

Rival Windows performance levels with GloriousEggroll's (A Red Hat and Wine developer and Warframe player) custom Proton build.
On Arch Linux, you only need install proton-ge-custom-bin from the Aur.
NOTE: You may need to clear your Steam download cache for Steam to be able to see the custom Proton version (to force use of a specific Steam Play comptibility tool) and you're done.
No need to install xboxdrv or any custom Steam launcher options. I'm getting 60-120 FPS (at low settings) on my ancient machine (GTX 950), thank you Steam, Wine and GE. Glorious indeed!
